As long as I'm sitting on my bathroom floor, locked inside, upset at my boyfriend, waiting for maybe a little advice.... I have a question... I have these little white hexagon tiles on the bathroom floor... and some of the grout seems white... some of it seems grey, and some of it seems black... does anyone know of a good grout cleaner? As you can tell I'm extremely bored here.

I have had good luck with straight simple green all purpose cleaner. It'll take anything off of tile & grout. You can get it at any auto parts store or walmart in the automotive section. Do not dilute it like it says to. As with any cleaner, you have to agitate the spots with some kind of brush. Just be careful not to get it on the walls because it'll take the paint off.

Home Depot makes a great one ZEP grout cleaner and whitener. Works wonderful and pretty fast. They even sell a specal grout brush that you can screw on a broom handle so you don't kill your poor knees. Don't get me wrong I think the bf toothbrush would work just fine - LOL You know what in fact on the back of the ZEP cleaner it says (and I quote) "works best when scrubbed by boyfriend to make girlfriend happy once again and to earn rights back into said girlfriends bedroom"

Anime - I laughed my butt off when I clicked on this and saw it was from you. Girl you still in the bathroom? Is bf still breathing??

I think I'll get some of that... tape a big paper arrow to that phrase, and hand it to him.. wonder how that will go over...

Start with good-old bleach and a toothbrush! After you get it clean, go to Home Depot and get some grout sealer to help keep gunk from seeping in and growing. Smiling

I've had perfect results with plain old fashioned (cheap!) bleach as well - and Q-Tips.  I'd use the Q-tips to get just into the grout and not bother the tile. Leave it to sit for a couple hours, and your grout will be white as new. Just rinse it off well since it can eat through it eventually over time.

Then, once rinsed, nothing's cleaned my tile (like the shmutz buildup on the shower floor - gosh, I sound filthy - but it really builds up slowly, I only clean it when I see it needs it...) is Kaboom! That stuff makes my shower doors invisible, gets the gunk off the tile without scrubbing and makes the chrome glisten. Plus, it doesn't stink.

One thing about bleach, whenever I used it in my bathroom, my dog would get wheezy sick, just being in the bedroom adjacent - the fumes. So I kept her away and everything closed off with windows open until I rinsed it - poor baby.

Avoiding the tile isn't much of an option for me unless I wanna spend a week cleaning it... my tiles are at most an inch in diameter... and there are billions of them... as for animals and bleach.. I have a cat... and he will rub up on anything that has a bleach odor to it... cats are weird like that, so I don't think it'd bother him too much lol...

i was going to recommend a bleach and water solution for pretty much all cleaning needs in the bathroom.  i dont know about any issues with a cat, but i wouldnt know.  that orange stuff they sell on tv works pretty good on just about anything.  infact i think they sell it at walmart, but either way ill try to test it on my br floor and repost.

edit--i just noticed the post date for this thread and figured you mustve tackled your floors already.Foot in mouth

I need to clean some places in the grout in the floor of my kid's bathroom and I just discovered this thread.  So I found some ideas to use on a stubborn area and also this jewel Animes wrote about the toothbrush!  Love it!!! Laughing
