OK so I have a pounding headache and I think it's because I have spent most of my day on Gaia trying to find out more information on it. Why you ask? Well because my kids are way into Gaia along with their friends and as a mom I want to know more about it for myself. So I logged onto Gaia and created my own profile today. One thing that I really like is that you don't use your own picture but a avatar - which I think is much safer as far as the crazy people in this world go. It's also not a easy site to play around on. What I mean is your original avatar is very plain. You have to dress it up and also dress up your house (yes you even get a house). In order to dress it up you have to have gold. You can't buy the gold (with real money) but you have to earn it (not so easily done). Oh and everything is expensive gold wise so you have to really work at it. At one point I admit I semi gave up but I got help from my oldest son (with out him knowing - yep he's my friend on Gaia - LOL).

From my days adventure I learned that on Gaia the kids / teens and young adults (which from what I can tell that mostly make up Gaia) that it is kinda like a myspace but with fun and games added. Have you ever played the game "Animal Crossing" on gamecube - it's very much like that with a myspace kinda twist to it. Also like I said above with avatars instead of real pictures which I really like. So after hours of working here is my avatar (I spent close to $4000 in gold to get her to look this good - again with the help of my son - LOL):

So anyone else Gaia or anyone with any helpful info? I would show you my Gaia house but I had to sell just about everything to get my gal to look this good - haha. Anyone else's kids on Gaia?

IN NEED OF GAIA HELP !!! PLEASE

OK so besides the fact that I am beyond furious there is a profile that needs to be reported ASAP!  My son's friend that is being stalked by a nasty kid who today posted pictures of a cat being burned alive on her profile.  It's a incredible horrific graphic pictures from beginning to end of this poor cat - 20 pictures in all.   I did take screen shots of the pictures the profile for the records.  These pictures were so horrific they made me littleraly sick and has upset my children beyond.  This kid is pond scum.

now if you feel you need to see these pictures prior to reporting this little %#&^  then you can see the screen shot here - BUT IT'S VERY DISTURBING!

Please help me report this punk kid.  This is his profile:  Atomic Sky

I was probably too late in looking at the pictures, but even if I could have, I think I would have passed on it.

I looked at the thread you started and overall, you got a good response, minus the *weirdos* that act up just to do it.

I'm impressed that you took the initiative to call this *sicko* on the carpet and put them up front for everyone in Gaia to see. I noticed they had logged on today, but seems to be keeping rather quiet. *As of earlier this morning before I went to work*

Sorry your kids and everyone else had to see such a terrible act, but overall, the good that comes out of it, is teaching everyone real life and internet safety. There are strange characters out there to be leery of. And the voice of many people stands out saying *We will not tolerate this kind of behavior*.

It felt good to see responses like that. I doubt anyone has actually told this person that their actions are unacceptable. You may have been the first for this person. And good may come of it.

Good job for being such a good Smartmom.

I went to her page, looked at her wishlist, and sent her the cat ears (the real ones, not the paper ones) and the cat mask anonymously, with a little note saying I hope she realizes that most people don't suck, yada yada.  I didn't see the thread, where's the link?

 The profile is NOT going to be deleted they only removed the comment.  So I am discusted at it all.  Last night I got to play damage control with 3 kids that were beyond consoling all why being shaken up myself.   I did get to chat with my kids last night and I let them vent.  I also explained that this kid did not torture this cat but pulled the pictures off the internet on a site that deals with animal abuse.  I then let them vent not only at home but on the Gaia Chatterbox (which is like forums such as this) to get there feelings out.  We did a whole forum on this kids profile and how it needed to be banned.  So today I think the kids were still emotionally drained but now feeling somewhat empowered to fight for changes and on a mission to get this kids profile banned.  So power to the little people.

HEHEHEHE.....yeah it's fun and adictive.  Glad to see some adults on Gaia - I was getting tired of only talking to MY kids.  At first my oldest wasn't happy that mom was on but he soon discovered that mom knows tricks *wink* and now he loves it!  Your profile looks great on Gaia Animestrinity!

Never seen it mentioned here on gug. Anyone use it? Pros/cons/codes etc? I don't use it,but have thought about joining in the past, so if anyone could share their knowledge it'd be helpful. I kinda got the feeling it was a loosey goosey type place-but I could be wrong on that.

OK so this my sound stupid but it's kinda like one of those things that drives you crazy thinking "this d@#n site can't be this hard". So now I'm somewhat hooked and having fun with it. Yep my little house is looking good, my avatar girl has some bling going on. What can I say I really liked the game Animal Crossing (use to play it with the kids) and this reminds me of it. I will admit that I keep telling myself I'm only doing it because my kids love it and I want to learn more about it...but shhh I'm having fun too.

Here is where you can read more about Gaia - Gaia information.  They also have forums and regular contest (such as art contest).  So far I'm pretty impressed (either that or I have taken so much motrin for my headache anything impresses me - LOL)!
