hey pals, I recently used HITS and scanned someones page for trackers and ggya.com came up. so i shot over there and wanted to see how good they track...I spent about 45 minutes tryng to figure out what the hell a widget s and how to use ths damn thing as a myspace tracker, it seemed like everything on that site was in complex computer language, i really couldnt figure out how to do anytnhing. does anytone know how to use this as a myspace tracker, or if t even works as one (does it show ip's). I have trackspace, mixmap, and have had a few others I dont know why it was so hard for me to understand that site. the person whos using it isnt exactly a genus so mabye someone else posted gigya on there ste as a comment or something?

An employee of gigya posted below that its not a tracker. So you should not even worry about it

I think I can give you a definite answer to this question, as I work for Gigya. Gigya develops software for widget distribution on social networks so people can easily install, say for example, The Colbert Report countdown widget on their MySpace profile. Our system generates reporting that can tell our partners how many people have installed their widgets, which countries they are from, and to which social sites the widgets have been installed onto, but nothing detailed about individual users.
Gigya is NOT a MySpace profile tracker like ProfileSnitch

I checked if a person had a tracker and it said they had countersgigya and I heard that is harmless, but I can't view their comments on scrape but I can on their page any ideas why?

Yeah, I had this too on my profile. I mark my profile as readable by everyone, but MSS can't load anything. It's weird. I just figured it was one of the scripts that are broken and that Snakeeater will get to.

that is because of the profile settings: private vs. non private and 18+ or under.

no, the profile is not private and I checked two profiles which both have counters gigya .com and neither one would let me see the comments on scrape any ideas?

The counters gigya shouldn't block you from seeing the comments if the profile is public. Maybe it is what purple onyx said above, just a glich.
Did you try both the existing scrape and the test version to see if either would work on the profile? Feedback is being accepted on the test version so you could ask the question if it doesn't work on either version.
My other question is why use scrape at all if the profile is public. scrape will increase the MySpace counter which I find some people get paranoid about. You could just go to the comment page and avoid increasing the counter.

I was using scrape to see if they had a tracker and it said counters gigya so I tried to pull up the comments and nothing, I thought maybe they had some tracker hiding in there, I have adblock on now but I didn't before so I wondered if it said which city the view came from on counters.

I don't think scrape will protect you from trackers in the comments. From the FAQs of scrape:
If a person has a Myspace profile tracker on his/her Myspace profile, will I get tracked by using your scripts?
No. Unless the Myspace tracker is somehow on that Myspace profile's comments, then none of my scripts will load the Myspace trackers.

Yes, just seen this recently on my targets profile too - something completely brand new...so it isn't like a mixmap tracker? I too want to know what a widget is.

I think we reached the conclusion in another thread that gigya only gives info on how many times a widget was loaded and nothing more than that. A widget is a "thingy" that you put on your profile. Clear enough? Ok well, stuff like video/music players, clocks, certain animations and all kinds of other stuff. On myspace they're usually flash objects.

i had the same problem. on myspacescrape, i checked a target's profle and gigya popped up as one of their trackers, thought last week it hadn't shown up. they must've just gotten it, and i am nervous as to what kind o info gigya can provide if it has tracked someone. i couldn't figure out that site for the life of me. do they just get IP's, or do they provide more info?
