Oh boy. Maybe someone has seen this before?
I have Windows XP Home & use Mozilla 99% of the time/IE about 1%.
I'm not sure what the precipitating factor was/is however I no longer am able to connect to certain sites. I had reinstalled IE7 about the time I started having this problem but had done so because I was trying to communicate with Norton (relentless Lucallbackproxy.exe's seemed to be slowing my computer down.)
Now, I can't connect to certain secure sites (outlook won't connect to my earthlink account; can't access Quicken, etc.) When I "diagnose connection problems" (IE7) I receive an Error message 12029 for HTTP port (80), HTTPS port 443, FTP port (21). Said to check my firewall settings. I turned off the Norton 360 firewall and double-checked to be sure the Windows firewall hadn't decided to open on its own accord.
Any ideas, anyone???

Are you using a router? Or combo modem/router? If so have you perhaps reset that recently? Try checking it's settings and forwarding those ports to see if it gets you anywhere.

Jewels, Turns out I had a corrupted Norton 360. I uninstalled 360 and problems disappeared. Thanks for your thoughts. I appreciate. WorkingGirl
Jewels,
Thank you for your reply/question.
Yes, I'm using a wireless router for the DSL however my kids' computers are not experiencing any problems (i.e. still connecting to our wireless printer and to secure sites, etc.) Wouldn't that indicate router settings still the same/okay?

Yes it would. However I have had router crap go haywire on me without something identifiable ever happening. It wouldn't hurt to go into the router setup and be sure the ports you need are open for YOUR computer. I have no idea if this is your issue or not! But on the odd chance that it is-this is a relatively easy and cost-free solution. Hopefully it is something that simple.
