Hey Guys, We've had some great posts about the different and dearly loved pets we've had or still have. i'm going to give you a couple of links that some of the older members have posted, but what we'd like to hear about now, are some posts from the newer members, sharing stories and pics about your pets. So let's hear what you got!
Geeks Love Pets, Too
i got some pics from my dad recently. he finally got a scanner and has been emailing us kids family pictures. ive been a dog person all my life and took in a lot of strays. my mom really had a thing for irish wolfhounds. theyre almost big enough to ride. they had the best temperament ever.

my favorite pet was a wild pig my dads hunter friends gave us when he was just a baby. my brother named him arnold. i lived by the beach so yah, he could swim, actually circles around the dogs.
nah my pet was a real sweetheart. i raised him from when he was small like a kitten and spent a lot of time working with him. he understood a lot of commands and was very good with people. he got along with the dogs fine and they even shared kibble. he, like my dogs, was allowed to run free, no fence or cages. i have a big place in a valley with only a few neighbors, all of which are close friends. yah hunting/fishing/farming are real big here in the islands. its the first time i raised a wild pig instead of hunting it. i havent hunted pig since, it just didnt feel the same.
I thought that cute little black dog was a lab, and I love labs too! I'd give anything to have one, but my yard isn't fenced.
I was asking about the shaggy-ish white dog, though = ]
I'd love to know what breed she is!
I also would love love love to see pictures of this evil, barking, yelling bird!!!!!
If seeing is believing, we're all blind as bats
We have 3 dogs, a cat, a bunny and some fish. We are also taking care of a momma cat and 5 kittens that were abandoned untilt hey are old enough to be adopted but my husband has already decided we're keeping one kitten and the momma if we can't find her a home bc she is soooo sweet! We had to bathe them all last night and the momma cat didn't claw Marc even once. She had a low meow going on but she was very sweet about it. Ok time for pictures.

I have many animals (4 dogs, tortois, cat, turtle, bird, lizard), and I love them all, except the bird (a conure). He is evil.
It isn't really my bird it just live in my house. I am it's enemy, or so it thinks. It can talk. It says his name, the dogs names, thank you, go to sleep, hugs, more, up, and barks at strangers.
It always asks me for hugs in this super sweet voice, then when I go over to pet it the freakin bird attacks me and yells in this horrible voice "go to sleep"!!! It is the sweetest thing to everyoneone else. The scariest thing is that lately it has been climbing the stairs to bother me. I come out of the shower and there it is. The other day I was reading on my bed and I looked down at my feet and there he was. He climbed up the stairs, and onto my bed without making a sound. He is way too smart, and he uses it for evil.

Ya know Princessbelle, most birds, especially parrots, are one person pets. I mean they'll tolerate other people around but if anyone is taking time with their fav person, then be on the look out, because they will do little nasty things, just like you mentioned. It's the pecking order and that bird is just letting you know who pecks what!
I'll send him your way, but he will most likely give your kids nightmares. Ever since he started sneaking in my room I lay awake and picture the door slowly creeking open with a big bird shadow being cast into my room!

Omg, Princessbelle...it sounds like this house! Between this side and my daughter's side, we have:3 dogs, 5 cats, i prairie dog, 3 guinea pigs, 2 cockatiels, 1 mini macaw, and 2 parakeets. Some days I think it probably smells like a barn instead of a home! We used to have a boa, but that was sometime ago. The bird story had me laughing, too. Mostly because Murphy, (the macaw), does the same kind of trick to my daughters. He acts all nice, talking, and flirting almost. Then if one of them goes near him, he makes the meanest face, and lunges, making an awful noise. Of course, I think it's hysterical, but the girls don't appreciate it too much.
Oh yeah, the good part is Murphy can bark like a dog, meow like a cat, quack like a duck. He says "please let me out" and if you answer no or not now,,he'll say...are you ready for this?, because it has been a major source of embarassment...ok, he'll say, 'OH, WHAT THE F*CK'' My son's school people came out to the house and of course Murphy was in full form.Heard it all, loud and clear!
Even tho he has terrible ettiquette, we love Murphy to death. All of them, do something that makes him or her, always endearing! I know all you guys know what i mean. They're good friends when the lights are out!
HA HA, the bird actually yells at you to go to sleep?!?!?!? That's hilarious! I've always wanted a bird.
Pretty funny it barks too! And the darn thing stalks you?!?!?!?
You've got me laughing so hard!!! Wonder if there's a thing like lolcatz that has a bird on it......
If seeing is believing, we're all blind as bats
Not only does he bark, when we walk in the house all of the dogs meet us at the door, and guess who is with them. Sometimes he asks the dogs for things too. He'll say "get Jacob" when he wants them to pick him up. Then he gets all pissed at them when they walk away.
"Time flies like an arrow. Fruit flies like a banana."
I volunteer with a cat rescue agency and it amazes me that I only have 2 cats and one dog. Everytime I pick up one of the newest additions or one that has been at our shelter a little too long I just want to take it home. I know one day I am going to break and bring them all home. I love all animals. I would like to have a pet pig someday...does anyone have one??
My mom got a tiny black pot bellied pig when I was about 12. She named her Petunia, I think. She just knew she could litter train the pig, right. That thing got huge!!!! It would get mad, and PEE on the carpet, and I mean it sounded like it was spraying a water hose! I hated that pig.

OK the bird story did make me laugh. But ohhh do I understand how birds can either favor one person or how they can turn evil on one person. I use to rehab owls and its so funny how they can get little attitudes and little personalities. The one owl we had for 3 years loved me but didn't like my husband. I could call him and he would come to me. When he saw me he would make his screech sound to greet me. When he was hungry he would search for me - and find me. He was always out of his cage during the day and only locked up at night. My husband he would completely ignore or he would make his one "I'm mad" sound.

PhOeNiX, Romeo looks like he knows he's the shizizzle! What a cool looking guy!
All you guys have some great sounding and looking extended families! Please continue to share your stories with us here at GuG. We have so many here that are knowledgable about every kind of pet. P.S. Hey Tunes...OMG, that ugliest dog contest winner, absolutely appropriate!
Hey Guys, OMG, smartmom a 19lb cat! That made me spit my coffee all over my keyboard!! That is a HUGE kitty! Pinky, sounds like you have some beautiful tanks. That is quite an investment when you really get into it. I love the different kinds of angelfish, but don't you have to be careful that they don't tear up your coral? Labs are such a nice breed generally, and poodles are known to be very smart. Do you find that to be true?
Baylee, I knew a cat that thought he was a dog, I mean this guy sounded like he was trying to bark sometimes

Well.... I started with the 60 gal tank... The bf and I have always been fans of tropical fish… In the begging it was hard… Who knew setting up a fish tank would be so hard (and expensive) I started with some dansels that are the tester fish before you put in the good ones.. So after 30 days we tested our water and it was ready… I bought clown fish first.. Then angel fish.. and a yellow & blue tang.. they all made it but the angel fish… We have star fish (sand star & choc. Chip star), snails, crabs, shrimp, & all that fun stuff…The clown fish love the anemone.. But we have to be really careful on what fish we buy because just like us the other fish have fits too… they’ll fight or eat our coral… Then a friend of ours gave us the 100 gallon tank.. So there we go again.. but this time we put the “mean” fish.. Lion fish, Triggers, puffers and we have a flounder in there too… were still working on it… I want a shark in there but I think it might be to small for the tank.. Overall.. tanks are great.. there good for your eyes & to relax.. (someone told me that) As for my dogs… Buddy is great.. he was my first dog.. we got him for xmas.. then he got parvo… was at the vets for a week & luckly survived.. hes a true companion no matter what.. I was just telling the bf that although buddy has his own room with his bed and everything (he’s and indoor dog) he prefers to sleep outside our room by the door.. like if he was guarding us.. As for Mr.Bit Bit.. Smart, he is! He knows exactly when to run when im going to spank him for chewing up something or how to steal buddys bone.. lol.. I’ve known Bit Bit since the minute he was born.. I helped her mother whelp… he’s still a pup so were still training him.. But they both get along really good.. I love them both..
.Live. .Love. .Laugh.

This is my dear Romeo. But I call him pookie. I love him. I also have another cat, Julie, but she's not that friendly. I know I'm awful...I play favorites.
The Truth Is Out There. Trust No One! Deny Everything!
You're upsetting me....on several levels.
-I am The Phoenix that rises again.
-I am The Oasis in this dry world.
as for me...
I have 2 dogs- Buddy the lab & Bit Bit the poodle
& also I have 2 salt water fish tanks..
one 60 gallon coral tank...
& a 100 gallon tank were we keep our triggers, lion fish, puffers or anything that will eat our coral.
I'm very excited to say that our star fish had baby star fish & the snails also had babies!!!

Awww...this is my kitty Church. I have had this old man for years...my cousin begged me to take him as a teeny kitten because her mean boyfriend threw him against a wall and threatened to kill him. He is a little 'slow' because of that but is the sweetest thing since well, something really sweet.
Caught him mid-yawn...looks vicious.

*If you really love me baby, help me scrape the mucus off my brain*
lol, yes the cockatails name is crazy bird (because for the longest time he walked backwards) and he would actually walk up 2 spookys paws, and bit them, like not hard, but enough to get her atttnetion, there was a lot of times where we thought spooky would just swallo crazy bird, but she wuld jus nidge the bird away with her nose,

i had one dog, an she was the best, her name was spooky, she was a black lab, with a white streak going down the front of her chest, we taught her how to dance on her hind legs for treats, open the fridge, go down a slide, and when you made a finger gun, and made a noise, she would play dead, she was the BEST! dog ever.
