private profile question---and no not a request for the code !

private profile question---and no not a request for the code !
Under the main picture that appears on a profile there aren't the usual "pics" and "videos" links one finds on public profiles. But in that small box near the upper right it lists all the normal links to a profile. If you click on one you are sent to your login page. What happens if you try to login ? Do you get some warning from myspace or would it be reported to the person you tried to access their page without being a friend ?

Re: private profile question---and no not a request for the code
I appreciate all the information on tracking but actually I'm not sure if the thing to which I was referring in my original post is a tracker. On some myspace pages whether public or private in the upper right side of the page a small box appears listing all the normal links of a profile (pics, video, comments, blogs, etc). What also seemed odd was that it appeared on a friend's page just recently and they hadn't been on in over a week. Maybe I'm not explaining it properly, so sorry if I'm causing confusion.
Re: private profile question---and no not a request for the code
In addition, it's a choice under the view menu in the Firefox toolbar. It's under "Page Source" (shortcut Ctrl+U). In IE, it's under the view menu in the toolbar, titled "Source".
Re: private profile question---and no not a request for the code
thanks for the info BUT where on their profile do I right click my mouse (to choose "view source")?
Re: private profile question---and no not a request for the code
You are welcome:) Click anywhere on the profile except on links and pictures. Click on their background area or some other blank space.
Re: private profile question---and no not a request for the code
Nice FYI, I didn't know that.
Re: private profile question---and no not a request for the code
I'm not too sure if I understand the question, but here is my thought...When you are sent to the login page you cant be in trouble if you are entering Your email and password. Not sure if that answers your question though. Sorry FYI: If the person has a tracker, they can track you even though you are not seeing their whole page. And their profile views will get a count too.
Re: private profile question---and no not a request for the code
Intresting - didn't know that either.  Here's a question: When they track you do they track you by your IP address or by the myspace your logged on to (your personal myspace).  What does the trackers's show?
Re: private profile question---and no not a request for the code
Trackers can track either one... but most usually IP addresses. Some can actually show your picture. Just depends on what tracker they are using. One way to find out if they have a tracker is to go to their profile and right click your mouse and choose "view source" and it will open up a page in notepad and show you all the code in their profile. It may be jumbled to someone that doesnt know code well, but if you carefully read it you can spot the name of a tracker such as "wundercounter." (it usually has a bunch of arrows around it) There is the name "urchinTracker" at the bottom--BUT don't fear because thats on everyones profile so its not a tracker from the user. Not really sure what it is, probably part of myspace.
Re: private profile question---and no not a request for the code
The last time I tried...The view source trick doesn't work for private profiles. One more thing to remember, some of those trackers are really major..like wundercounter--it will show you the ip, browser, and latitude and longitude of a view to your profile...then you can go to mapquest and put in the latitude and longitude points and view it in satelite view and actually see a satelite picture image of their street/house. (the current satelite image is not a live feed, the picture was taken a couple of years ago of the earth).
Re: private profile question---and no not a request for the code
Well, I'm assuming you put it in the address bar, so I did, but it didn't work...is there something I'm missing? Your help would be greatly appreciated...=]
Re: private profile question---and no not a request for the code

Try this

Re: private profile question---and no not a request for the code
SWEET!!--thanks alot....so I tried mapping my own I.P. address, but it was wrong--why is that? Maybe cuz I have a laptop?
Re: private profile question---and no not a request for the code

EDIT: I was lucky enough to track it down very close to my location by testing it out. But its not always that 100% accurate. There are 2 types of IP addresses--static and dynamic. Static IP's always stay the same. Dynamic Ip's change everytime you log off and back on to your computer. Plus your ISP probably routes you to a completely different area/state. Good day:)

Re: private profile question---and no not a request for the code
No because you can't get that close with an IP, unless you have a subpoena, or you are working from an FBI CIA or NSA computer but some people will always think they can get right down to the house but it won't happen anytime soon (unless you can get congress to repeal the privacy rights section of the digital millennium act)
Re: private profile question---and no not a request for the code
Oh okay....well, thanks abunch for your help!!
Re: private profile question---and no not a request for the code
Ummm...where do u put the latitude and longitude numbers? I can't seen to find where...
Re: private profile question---and no not a request for the code
you are not seeing the actual house based on IP, the only people who get that accurate a result from the IP are the CIA FBI and NSA. But as one member pointed out if the person volunteers their information to a Geolocator it can be that perscise
Re: private profile question---and no not a request for the code
WOW - if that's not scarry as hell.  Have you ever used wundercounter?  Very intresting  -must check into them (of coarse, after helping with homework, cooking dinner, doing laundry......ROFL)
Re: private profile question---and no not a request for the code
Yes I've used wundercounter. You get a free 14 day trial. I was shocked when i got the latitude and longitude points of someone spying on me and used mapquest to track down location of the points. LOL about the cooking, laundry..I'm with you on that one:)
Re: private profile question---and no not a request for the code
Yes I have used wundercounter too and it is not that accurate, and if you read the fine print it says the lat and long is not an approximation of the location of the IP but the general area in which the IP is located
