THINK before you press that POST button
Submitted by Ashton on December 27, 2006 - 1:40pm.
Too many times I've seen good forums destroyed because of egocentric individuals. I, myself, have no inclination to waste my time observing negative writings that ultimately shows the maturity and intelligence of the individual(s) involved. I'm totally coming at this from selfish perspective...I Don't Want To See It!!! This is a site dedicated toward helping others with computer issues and finding the esoteric twists in the Myspace "lattice".... among other things. Let's keep it that way, please. My advise? Read carefully before you post. Check the emotional level of your writing. Remember that other people in this forum are naturally going to base their opinion on you, as a person, based on your content and how well it's presented. On the internet, the world is watching. Thanks for being on top of it, Geek and Hubbie. It's a good forum.

By the way Ashton, this is a very good topic/thread you created! You mentioned very important things. It makes the forum more friendly and enjoyable to participate and to be a part of. Fortunately, I haven't had any problems here on GuG with others. But sometimes I do happen to run across other forum websites while looking up something on google and can see how people are so surprisingly rude to others in so many ways. Another thing that irks me is that I also notice on that a person will take the time to try to answer someone's question and offer help--and in return--they will get a post from someone who just wants to pick out the "incorrect" info within their post and adamently try to make the person feel that they are wrong or less intelligent. Of course if someone sees "incorrect" information in a post--it is very important to present the "correct" information so that people are not reading something that isn't factual. But, there are ways to do that without being rude or inconsiderate. Also, sometimes someones post actually only appears as if it contains an "incorrect" statement or wrong information---when actually they were saying something totally different than it sounded or maybe they just made a simple typo that totally changed what they meant to say. What I originally was gonna say before I started rambling..lol..is that it made me very happy to read the recent posts that were posted in this thread (the posts that mentioned how some people "apologize" for anything that could've offended someone else.) That took alot of courage for them to admit and say that. It made my day...seriously! Currently in life, I am surrounded by so many negative people within my "life network" including friends or acquaintances as well. Of course I don't want to dig too deep into my life and get off track of my post, but the general point is that negativity is not pleasant. Everyday, in the course of my daily life events, I see negativity all day long, and it naturally progresses into worse junk and it rubs off onto other people. And by the end of the day, everyone is in a bad mood and the mood in the air is just unbreathable. And so I just wanted to mention that I admire the posts I read and mentioned above. It's great to see positivity in the world. It started my day on the right track Re: THINK before you press that POST button

I feel bad, cause I was mean on here to a few people at first. I didn't mena to be, I just let the emotions get the best of me. I am sorry to any one that might have been offended by me, or that I was a litle harsh to. After being here for a few days I realized there are some good people out here and we all want to have some good conversation. Awsome site, awsome people, and awsome ideas. Keep up the good work people. Re: THINK before you press that POST button

I know that I have had to reread and preview what I am about to post many times over and have rewritten for appropriateness. Usually depends on what kind of day it is, so some days I am quiet, BUT, most days I can go on and on and on. And hey, GuG is your support group! Kudos Ashton - what struck me recently is that there was a question posted that's already been clearly answered. Below the post, listed as the "previous" one, was where it was most recently addressed! If you read my GuG profile, you'll see that's one of the things that irk me about any help forum - "I don't wanna search or look around, I'll just ask." Another post had something to the effect of "I know, but I figured it out for myself and so should you" - in a help forum!? Nice. I took a deep breath, composed myself and didn't post anything in response. This is indeed "Grown Up Geek". Not baiting, mocking or patronizing geek. Thanks to all the owners and mods here for the great work they do. Re: THINK before you press that POST button

I agree with that. Also that just one person can ruin someones business on the internet for no other reasons but I don't agree with that person, or I don't like that person. If we could all be mature all the time it would be great but we are all human and we make mistakes. Lets hope that we can change when reading posts like this. I myself am a work in progress. I see who the culprits are.....lol. Really though, thank you very much, it is very much appreciated. Brought a smile to my face. I think everyone will agree that even without the bling, it is nice to be able to help others, and there are so many here that have done way way way more than I. And I'm loving seeing all those hearts everywhere. Thank you again,..,,and I loved the start of this post, you did a great job Ashton.
