AAAARGH!!!!

So the other day I login into my account and I get hit with..."your account has been blocked, please send an email to inquiry@gaia** for more information"!!! Now here's the sad part...I HAVEN'T DONE ANY CHEATS IN WEEKS!! I've been so busy lately that I have only gone on to buy stuff and change outfits. I am still getting alerts to my email account and I have sent at least five different "inquiries" this past week and still there is no response. What gives?????

As you can see I am a little peeved since I have TONS of stuff that I really don't want to lose.

O__O;; I made a new account... and i was banned a few days later... O__O;; All i did was offer commissions... is there something wrong with that????

Hello,

We have received many inquiries about the March 10th bans in which multiple accounts were banned for botting/related activity on the site. Given the feedback we have received regarding this incident, we are allowing users who were banned by the automated botting script on March 10, to appeal certain account bans. We've investigated the majority of these reports, and many of them should stay banned. But we also want to extend the benefit of doubt to those accounts that were not involved in botting activity (yes, our systems can tell).

What this means to you: If you had an account that was banned on March 10th, 2008 and which was banned for botting as part of the mass account ban, then you may file an appeal to have your account ban re-investigated.

To file an appeal, follow these steps carefully:

1) Using another account, please fill out a hacking report form on behalf of your banned account.

2) In the "How were you hacked?" section of the hacking report form, please enter the following code into the text field: BAN310 on a separate line, and then describe that you are filing this report as a botting ban appeal for an account that was specifically banned on March 10th, 2008. Only those accounts that were banned on that date are eligible for appeal.

3) All appeals must be filed by next Monday, March 31st, 2008. Any appeals for this set of bans which are filed after March 31st, 2008 cannot be considered.

Please know that most of the accounts banned on March 10th, 2008 were appropriately banned for botting or related activity. Some botters have been complaining about their accounts, stating innocence, so please be patient as we separate the innocent accounts from the botting ones. Sorry for the hassle this has caused some of you. We cannot guarantee any account will be unbanned upon investigation of a ban appeal. We can only handle appeal reports in relation to this particular banning incident: Anyone using the BAN310 code to appeal a ban that did NOT occur on March 10th will be considered to be filing false reports. Use this code very carefully, as all of the related accounts will be scrutinized exposing all of the related accounts/trades/activities.

We hope this helps anyone who should not have been auto-banned on March 10th. Again, we apologize for any hassle this anti-botting action may have caused you.

No, you know what the really sad thing is?
That people agree to the rules (Like you did to get the account)
and then cheat, and think it's fair.

even if you hadn't cheated for a week or whatever,
you still cheated

Other people *always* play fairly and are still at a disadvantage because of cheaters and scammers.
how is that fair?

You think Gaia shouldn't ban you because you're only a *little* cheater?
I feel bad for people who got banned for suspicious activity that was actually fair play (Like giving gold to a friend or something) and I hope they get their accounts and purchases back, But I don't sympathize with cheaters who get what they deserve.

my account got blocked for no reason
*I have not used any hacking/cheats for or on gai
*And I dont really have anything illegal on gai
I have things on my gaia account that I CANT LOSE and means alot to me!

I think they're just a little over excited about putting their foot down, I'm sure everyone who played fair (And probably some who didn't) will get their accounts back once they state their case. Smiling

Unfortunately, if you read Gaia's terms of service, they're not unlike myspace's in that by signing up, you essentially agree that they can terminate your account without warning, for no reason, with no right to appeal.

However, they do accept some degree of fault in the recent mass-banning, that they were a little too enthusiastic and banned some accounts that shouldn't have been. In the help forum, they mention that they're working on restoring some of the accounts that were wrongfully banned.

I wouldn't wait for them hoping they eventually just get around to restoring your account. Call them and explain. Works much easier than waiting for them in hopes they recognize yours was deleted in error.

I'm sure they can restore your account. I wouldn't hang up without it being done. I bought Target cards the day Benny was announced but still got Kayas when I redeemed them. So I called to turn my Kayas into Bennys - done. And had a store PJ pants nightmare that got me the numbers to begin with. But the phone calls worked each time and they wouldn't let me hang up until I verified in my account that it had been done. Pretty awesome customer service if you ask me, but maybe they offer a little extra attention when it's an adult who uses their own disposable income to support them.

I'm curious if they give you a reason, etc.

Thanks for your support! I really lost alot with my old account...and I bought countless cash! I still believe that I was accussed of cheating because I stayed up all night playing word bump!! next thing i know, im banned...I haven't really been on it the way I used to but I will try to get my account back...

Unless I misunderstood, if you can't trade you also cannot buy or sell in the marketplace, same problem I am having with my original Gaia account, now called LadyLynnie (I copied LadyC).

I couldn't even change my name because my 'stupidly invited by me hacker' changed it, so it cost me 10,000 gold. What I did to get LadyLynnie gold was to gift over all marketplace items I could sell back to the shops. I really hated that admln14 name and the 10,000g was worth it.

I still cannot trade or MP since August of 2007. I've emailed them, saying, hey, okay, don't worry about what I lost, I just want all the capabilities of my Gaia account. No answer yet.

This wouldn't get resolved by a phone call, would it? I can hope anyway, if it's not feasible.

Fourtytwo, are you back in at Gaia now? If you are, want to be my friend?, I'm LynnieH. Or are you a friend already and I just don't realize it? Smiling

It's amazing what can be resolved by a phone call.

I'll shoot you their numbers.

Now the voicemail system is weird. The toll free number says you need to call the 408 number unless it's a billing issue. When I did, "Jessica" told me I could, like, OMG lolz, call their toll free number for any reason! She didn't know why it told me it was for billing issues only!

So I never got the email code for my Gaia Store PJ Pants - while on the phone with them, she sent the email and she stayed on the phone until my pants were in my account.

Second, my last gift card purchase still gave me a Kaya. I wanted Benny the Puppy!? I called and again, while on the phone, a species change ensued and my Kaya turned into a Benny.

(sorry non-Gaians: this pants and puppy hoopla must sound really weird!)

So I strongly suggest the phone call. I really think they dig talking to adults for a change. Ha. But that's really the only way to get things done. I don't know how they treat you when talking about banning, but Lynn in your case you really should have your account fully restored by now. I can't see why they wouldn't do it.

Thank you elle for the numbers. I agree with you, I wasn't banned. I was just pretty naive at that time....... actually I personally consider it stupidity in the strongest sense of the word.

I sent you something back too.

Now that I have my photobucket account, I should go in and look at my trades, screen shot them. Or, locate the ones on my computer that I took at the time of the scam. If my trades are still sitting there. I haven't even looked.

Trying so hard to move the furniture around in my house today and toss out the dust bunnies.

OK huh...you can pick a puppy over the kaya? When was this a option? My son has two Kaya's from the gift cards and I know he would love to have one of them a puppy. Was this always a option?

I redeemed my gift card the morning they announced Benny. They "still" gave me a Kaya. I'm sorry if that wasn't clear.

So no, it's not an option for gift card redemptions from before he was announced. I thought I was getting a Benny, I should have gotten a Benny.

If that's unclear or suggested that a Kaya from before then can be changed, please edit. Thanks.

I've lurked around a gaming forum that discusses Gaia and the recent topics on there mentioned another mass-banning coming.

I guess there was one day in November where it seemed like Gaia sat down, looked at members activity data and banned anyone whose activity may have been suspicious. I don't know how far back they look.

I suggest emailing them first, as they ask but I've found calling them gets the stuff I want done - fast! Ask them why you were banned,if you've bought cash cards, remind them and always insist you've never used a cheat. Heck, you wouldn't know how to use one even if you knew how to! (wink)

PM me for both the toll free and their local number. I'll try IMing you. I've found I get better response from the non-toll-free number, however.
