I am: Not Telling

Ok, lets see if I can make sense out of what I am trying to say.  There are some areas where I live that have free wireless network but it is usually a P2P connection.  For some reason, although I am getting a strong signal and I appear connected, I still cannot get my internet to work with these such connections.  If its an unsecured wireless network I have no problem but if it says unsecured P2P, it never works.  I called my computer company and they had no answer to why it wouldn't work.  Any ideas?

Re: P2P Wireless

I'd venture a guess and say that you have ad-hoc networking disabled on your computer. Not sure how'd you go about changing that since most of my experience is with wired nets.

Yeaaah...

I tried that a long time ago. It wasn't getting anything. I couldn't log on to ANYTHING! Connecting to a different network usually works as long as it is not a P2P network. I can be in the place that offers free WIFI but if it says peer to peer connection on my wireless networks, its not gonna work.

Re: P2P Wireless

I have worked with some people that have had that same problem what they did was opened up their LimeWire and see if that was connected if you did not have LimeWire try connecting any Messengers and see if they connect to the Internet and if they do connect. Go back and see if any Webpages are comming up If not their is a Low WIFI signal comming in and it is telling you its a strong Signal. Try connecting to a different Network and see if it works!!! Need further help let me know.
