I switched on firefox today to run a program and do some work, and its gone wonky on me. Previously, I would get that little broken image graphic if something wasn't there, or the generic image graphic while it was loading. Now, everything is a little box with a red diamond in the corner, whether its broken or loading. I really need to be able to tell if an image is loading or if it is broken, anyone know how to switch it back?
Thanks!

Did you install anything new on Firefox? Toolbar, theme, etc.?
Nothing at all. And today, its back to normal! I DO NOT UNDERSTAND.
I don't either. Maybe it just needed a break or something
THE RED DOTS ARE BACK. wth wth.
There are other alternative to both IE and Firefox. Both opera and safari are great browsers that can be used on a PC. If you are having trouble completing your work b/c you cant use Firefox and dont like IE, id suggest trying out opera first.
wow, thanks that's a great tip!
Thank you! My iTunes updater keeps trying to sneak in the Opera installer , I think it is. Guess I should let it?
Its probably trying to sneak in Safari since thats a mac application like iTunes. You can like it- give it a shot, and if you dont like it you can always uninstall.
That might be it! I just ignore it because I don't like it being forced on me, but will give it a go
if the "load images automatically" box has been unchecked, would that interfere with what you are trying to view? i dunno, i'm guessing here...jk
It's checked, but thanks for thinking of that!
Gotta ask, have you tried restarting your computer?
And, are you running a program(s) in the background?
.·:·.·:·.·:·.·
Better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to speak and remove all doubt.
Haha, yeah, I have
Nope, not running anything in the background. I literally turned the computer on this morning, pulled up the pages to finish what I was doing last night, and it was like that. So odd!
vinyl - you can simply uninstall Firefox, however, you really do not even need to do that, just go open IE.
re Firefox, did you happen to install FF3B5? it is a "beta" and there are still some kinks being worked out.
Tuna ><((((*> the other white meat!
If I uninstall then I'll lose my bookmarks and my scripts and drop-down history, though, won't I?
I haven't installed anything. It was all working fine last night, logged on this morning and the graphics had changed on me. It's confusing me to no end.
Thanks, Tuna :)
yes - so leave it. use IE for the short term to complete your work. go to Firefox and reinstall. what version of Firefox are you using vinyl? if you aren't using FF3B5,i have to say it is their best work yet. fast, lean. not fully compatible with the old add-ons yet. but they'll get there.
Tuna ><((((*> the other white meat!
I did try using IE but I'd forgotten what a terrible, awful browser it is. It wouldn't even finish running the program, ugh.
I'm using Firefox 2.0.0.13. I'd upgrade, but I'll wait until all the add-ons work because I use so many of them
i feel the same about IE...i'm a MAC through and through. but once in a while i'm out w/my laptop and have no choice. so, let me encourage you to go to FF3B5 release notes to read what is new. you may just upgrade now!
Tuna ><((((*> the other white meat!
hank you, lovely lady! I shall check them out
