Last night I was at a friend's house and as she was working on her computer, I had to do a double-take... she was using Safari as her web browser on her windows PC! Okay so maybe a Windows version of Safari has been around for a while and I'm just slow... but this afternoon when I finally had some time to myself I downloaded it. I've only been using it for an hour, but I'm not crazy about how it looks. It doesn't look quite as good as it does on a Mac, but it does it look okay. I am diggin' the bookmark bar, though.

So, my question is - which browser do YOU prefer? Laughing

Re: Firefox vs. Safari?

Firefox drives me nuts... esp when i can't navigate simple "Mac standard" key strokes - such as pressing the "up" key to goto beginning of a text input field.. argh.

Firefox is also slow IME... the latest Firefox is a bit snappier tho. perhaps they're responding to the new Safari 3.

i kinda think Firefox is to PC (upgradeable/modifiable components) as Safari is to Mac (all in there, works right out of the box, but still upgradeable in its own way).

Safari ftw... for me.

Re: Firefox vs. Safari?

Hi everyone!

I prefer Firefox, but it does seem to freeze up on occasion when I've left it open too long. Another issue is it appears to be loading a page but it never will. Safari seems to work when these pages don't load on Firefox.

Re: Firefox vs. Safari?

I love Firefox, especially how you get to use the no page style option Smiling, plus it blocks all those annoying pop ups.

To me i think it runs faster, but im gonna have to have both running at the same time doing the same search etc...

Firefox >>> Safari >> Internet Explorer

Firefox.

I rarely hop on to Safari. It never really hooked on to me, and Firefox has treated me so well.

Re: Firefox vs. Safari?

I have both Safari & Firefox on my Mac. I must say, somehow I like Safari better even if it doesn't work properly with a few sites (lika with GUG..sigh) and you don't have cool addons like Adblock plus and so on.

Re: Firefox vs. Safari?

With the new update to safari ive found that on my computers that safari works alot better than Firefox. I dont neeed all that extra add on stuff that Firefox throws at you and i love the clean look of safari. The only reason i have Firefox is to view things that need "firefox with the google toolbar".

Re: Firefox vs. Safari?

I have never used Safari before. I use Firefox on my PC, and I have no other reason to switch to anything else because I'm really happy with it. Anything is better than IE.

Re: Firefox vs. Safari?

I also prefer Firefox on my Mac.  I tried Safari for a while and I do like the clean interface but it does not have the add-ons that I have come to love on Firefox.  Not to mention, I kept getting the spinning rainbow of death on Safari.

Re: Firefox vs. Safari?

Is the bookmark bar different on safari than it is on Firefox?

Re: Firefox vs. Safari?

At first I thought it was. I thought Safari bookmark bar was different in the sense that you could basically create a drop down menu/folder in the bar... but when I looked in Firefox after I made this thread, I found out you could do the same exact thing. But I do like the way the drop-down menus look in Safari better though. =o)

Re: Firefox vs. Safari?

safari and i didn't get along very well on my mac. as a matter of fact, it was hubby that pointed me to Firefox, and now i run FF3B5 on my newest mac. no problems. lightening fast. requires little space.

Re: Firefox vs. Safari?

I really like Safari. Like you mentioned the bookmark bar is awesome. Sometimes I use Firefox on my macbook and it doesn't work as well, the links dont always work.  But you probably won't have that problem on windows.

Re: Firefox vs. Safari?

on my Mac i actually prefer Firefox.. IMHO Safari would be better than IE, but not as good as Firefox on a PC.
