Firefox and passwords

Firefox and passwords

Hey Guys, This might be common knowledge, and if it is , I'm sorry for the post. But I was really suprised to find that firefox has a place under "privacy" where it shows all the passwords used  when logged on with Firefox. Now, potentially this means you could access other peoples passwords if they used your computer for some reason. I know this happens, because my daughter logged on here and now her password is there if i wanted to use it. The same thing for " iheartelliotnot", which i think is someone's profile from here.. I don't know what to think because it also means if someone knew of this feature, and used my computer, they could grab all my passwords, if they wanted. and what happens if u have remote access( I think that's what it's called) can they reach in somehow and get the passwords? It could also let you know if someone changed my password. Let me know if this is nonsense and something anyone with half a brain already knew about.  juliek

Re: Firefox and passwords

Wow. I never knew this. I use to have IE and it was showing passwords from there also. I know this because my brother in law hasn't been here in some months so he has never used Firefox. Thanks for the info I would have never knew that.

Re: Firefox and passwords

wow i didn't know that i just checked it and found the email address and myspace passwords of my friend from when they have used my computer.

Re: Firefox and passwords

You can set a master password in there so that you need to enter that to be able to see the list of passwords. I just tried it out and the prompt for the master password wouldn't go away by any action other than entering the right password. If it's like that for everybody that would be weird because you'd have to close firefox if you didn't know the right password.

Thanks, Foamy

I see what I need to do. It just kinda freaked me out for aminute. Does aol, or anyone else do that? julie

Re: Firefox and passwords

Every time a person uses that remember this password option it gets stored in Firefox, so if you are worried about someone stealing your passwords you can erase all of them, then when you input your password the next time in firefox select never for the option to remember password
