Why do files in "favorites folder" come back after I delete them?

I have WinXP SP2, IE-7. Everything has pretty much functioned normally until about 3 months ago. I have to delete things twice within the Favorites Folder. They never come back after the 2nd deletion.

I have checked for some kind of an option within Explorers folders option. Nothing.
This anomaly is ony happening with the Favorites Folder. No other deletions within the tree have ever just come back on their own.

I have even tried emptying the Recycle Bin immediately and they still return to the Favorites Folder.

Anyone have a clue?

What are the exact steps you are taking to delete them?

(one sure-cure: Use Firefox instead) ..

Re: Internet Explorer 7 Favorites Folder

First, let me assure you I am no newbie at any of this. I have been using, repairing and building computers since 1993. I am just perplexed by this slightly annoying problem.
From Win 3.1 thru XP, I have never encountered files that renew themselves after deletion (on their own). This is only happening after deleting the files in Favorites Folder only; nowhere else. I use IE7 primarily, have Netscape and Firefox for backup.

I delete the Fav File thru the management system of the browser. Ususally by clicking the gold star in upper left corner. Finding the Fav File I don't want anymore and right click on mouse and choose 'delete'. It doesn't do it (come back) right away either. After deletion, I have even tried immediately dumping the recycle bin, cleaned out the Temp Files and ran my Registry Cleaner. Eventually they show back up (the same day thatis). This renewal happens only once mind you. Second deletion is permanent.

I have not gone to the Tree and deleted them there, it's not that important. So I cannot honestly say if it's the OPSYS or some quirk of the browser. I am completely updated in every sense of the word, as far as my software is concerned. It's only been the last few months this has been going on.

I ust the best Firewall, Anti-Virus and Anti-Malware I can find. I guarantee you my computer is clean.

Really odd.  I'm trying to duplicate what you did.  Waiting to see if they come back..
