Favorite Quote or Saying?
Submitted by Hot2na on May 2, 2008 - 10:12pm.
I am one that loves quotes. While I do not like cliches.....quotes are like a trivia game for me. So very simply, what is your favorite quote? Is it arrogant: Early in life I had to choose between honest arrogance and hypocritical humility. I chose honest arrogance and have seen no occasion to change. - Frank Lloyd Wright Is it a Chinese Proverb: When you have only two pennies left in the world, buy a loaf of bread with one, and a lily with the other. Is it jealousy: Jealousy is the tribute mediocrity pays to genius. - Fulton J. Sheen Is it ignorance: You always admire what you really don't understand. - Blaise Pascal Is it fear: You must do the things you think you cannot do. - Eleanor Roosevelt Is it wisdom: And in the end, it's not the years in your life that count. It's the life in your years. - Abe Lincoln Is it fashion: A girl should be two things: classy and fabulous. - Coco Chanel Is it scifi - What the Frack?! - Cara Thrace of Battlestar Galactica

"Sometimes the best solution to morale problems is just to fire all the unhappy people." ~ Unknown "Anytime four New Yorkers get into a cab together without arguing, a bank robbery has just taken place." ~ Johnny Carson "The most popular ride in Disneyland Paris is Women-Who-Don't-Shave-Their-Armpits of the Caribbean." ~ Norm MacDonald "Maybe, just once, someone will call me 'Sir' without adding, 'You're making a scene'." ~ Homer Simpson "If you tell the truth you don't have to remember anything." ~ Mark Twain "God gave men both a penis and a brain, but unfortunately not enough blood supply to run both at the same time." ~ Robin Williams "Parenting is the most important job on the planet next to keeping Gary Busey off the nation's highways." ~ Dennis Miller Re: Favorite Quote or Saying?

Hmmm..quotes. I don't know if my favorite sayings are all quotes or cliches, nor do I know where they came from. Tuna-->another excuse for me to yack some more. Aha! Found a website listing cliches. (Sorry Tuna). I had to Google it. The list tells you where the cliche came from and what its meaning is. But some I live by. And insist on. Such as:
"What goes around comes around" ~ I live by this. I said this exact thing last night about midnight to a complete stranger. A woman in a truck hit the curb in front of our house and it sounded like an awful accident. Went out with hubby and flashlight to make sure all was okay. She swerved to not hit our neighborhood fox and her tire ended up smashed up under her truck. Gave her my cellphone to call her parents and her insurance agent to have her vehicle towed. She actually did manage to miss the fox, because he came running back into my driveway. She promised she would repay my kindness and I said it was okay, to please do nothing, I didn't want payment, because wgaca and I may need a stranger's help someday. This one is definitely on the cliche site.
"I love what I do, because I do what I love" ~ Pretty simple, if I didn't love it, I wouldn't do it. I did not find this on the cliche site.
And the picture in my GuG profile: "take me as I am" ~ Why? Because I simply am who I am. And I'm a lot of different things at different times.....and at one point, everyone is bound to have either loved me, liked me, or hated me.....because I am just me...ALL the time. I did not find this on the cliche site. Finally, my GuG signature makes one wonder why I'd be standing on a fish, but I have stood on a fish, and I did slip and fall. That simple.
Now, it seems I need to google a good site for quotes and start reading, because the quotes I've seen listed have me quite interested.
If I was standing on a fish, I'd slip and fall...... Re: Favorite Quote or Saying?

Oh Lynn you always have great quotes! But then again you are such a great person (my first GUG friend here). Photobucket has a area for quotes: quotes or sayings images
and if you can't find your quote then make a quote and host it there - your so good at doing your images up. Oh and I never had a clue about the fish story - haha (sounds like my duck story).

How far that little candle throws his beams! I think that God in creating Man somewhat overestimated his ability. Oscar Wilde Great spirits have always encountered violent opposition from mediocre minds. Albert Einstein (1879 - 1955) There is a theory which states that if ever anybody discovers exactly what the Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable. There is another theory which states that this has already happened. Douglas Adams Re: Favorite Quote or Saying?

When the Boogeyman goes to sleep every night, he checks his closet for Chuck Norris. Chuck Norris doesn't read books. He stares them down until he gets the information he wants. There is no theory of evolution. Just a list of creatures Chuck Norris has allowed to live. Outer space exists because it's afraid to be on the same planet with Chuck Norris. Chuck Norris does not sleep. He waits. |
