First, good idea tattoodles.
Right now I can't get enough Rise Against. Catchiest band around right now.
Between The Buried and Me
Earth Crisis. Always have always will. True till death.
Path of Resistance. Same as above.
Jay-Z
Iron Maiden
Hatebreed
Los Crudos. Crusty punk all in spanish.
Into Eternity
Lucero. Alt Country.
Public Enemy
Coheed and Cambria
Trivium
And that one Jim Jones song. Yeah you know it, We fly high no lie you know this.
Yeah there are a lot more but this what I felt compelled to mention.

I like Coheed and Cambria and I'm just getting into Rise Against.

My favorite "newer" band right now is probably Breaking Benjamin.

The rest of my list (for now) would be:

Metallica - Old and new school. They still are the metal kings.

Black Sabbath - They invented metal. Appreciate the classics.

Slayer - "God Hates Us All" is the most aggressive, violent, but still smart CD I've ever heard. Always gives me a jumpstart when I need it.

Slipknot - "Volume 3" is one of the best put-together, spectrum covering CDs I know. But the self-titled CD has a good raw sound.

Alice in Chains

System of a Down

Wolfmother - Only one CD out, but it doesn't leave my changer.

Led Zepplin

I almost forgot Tool. The guy is just friggin crazy.

I love all Metallica from And Justice back. I can't do the new stuff. Slayer always has and always will be one of the best metal bands. Same for Black Sabbath. Led Zepplin is always good. I tried to like Tool but something kept me from really getting into it. I'm a bit of a weirdo with what i like and dislike.
I should add Converge. Awesome hardcore, metalcore.
Zao. Awesome Metalcore.
Kinghorse. Local Metal, long since broken up. Still gets regular play time.

Well my all-time favourite bands are:

- Queen (for originality)
- Bon Jovi (for depth and continuity)
- Guns 'n Roses (for pure style and coolness despite Axl's obvious flaws)

NIN (Broken is my favorite NIN album)
Tool
Slipknot
Korn
Amy Winehouse
Nickelback
Johnny Cash
PJ Harvey
Breaking Benjamin
Rage Against the Machine

Ah! Now RATM there's a band I haven't heard for a while - despite most of Audioslave being the same line-up I never thought they were quite as good as Rage personally.

I like Audioslave, but, I agree with you...it's just not the same. Chris Cornell is a great lead singer, but even with the rest of the guys from Rage, they're still not going to have the same sound that they had with Zack.

I am rather an odd ball with my music choice. I just love all kinds including classical opera... My fav is Sarah Brightman .. She has an amazing range and her concerts are beyond words.

I had the right to remain silent... but I didn't have the ability.

  1. country
  2. rap

Since I can't possibly list all my faves, I'll just narrow it down...

The 2 bands I'll always be able to go back to at any time and never get too much, are:

Male Lead:  BuckCherry

Female Lead:  Paramore

 

As for a solo singer, I like Jem... or Ameil.

Since its just Favorite band and solo artist, not bands and artists. I would have to say U2 for the band, and Jeff Buckley for the solo artist.

My favorite solo singer is Josh Grobin - OMG I would marry that man and only let him sing to me (no words). I love his voice - magic! Bonus my kids hate him (the songs that are not in English) which makes me want to play him more (and louder). Evil

Hands down, absolute favorite voice of all time.  She can make me LIKE a Christmas Hymn (Silent Night), and if you can find a copy of her live take on Ella Fitzggerald's "At Last", do yourself a favor and give it a listen.  Simply amazing.
