Fashion Emergency!

Fashion Emergency!

Fashion Emergency! A woman's worst nightmare, well mine anyway, showing up to a party or event and someone who was there first is wearing your same outfit. Heart sinks. Palms sweat. Armpits drip drizzle. What do you do next? Play it off and avoid her? Compliment her on how great she looks? Hug her, stand next to her and take MySpace picks and try to act like you planned it?! Or quickly escape to the bathroom and try to recreate the ensemble you have on? Maybe accidentally bump into her with a full drink so she will have to leave and change?

Has this happened to you? How did you react? What would you do if this happened to you?

Re: Fashion Emergency!

I notice how confident we all are that we would look better in the dress!

oooooh. just envisioned a great one liner if you are in this fashion nightmare and cannot change or alter the ensemble you are wearing that matches what another guest is wearing; when the opportunity presents itself and you find yourself face to face with ms. duplicity, say: "oh, same outfit? i didn't notice. it looks so.....um...different on you."  *catty, yes. but effective nonetheless*

Oh this happened to me my senior year in HS at prom.  I was pissed the store I got my dress at said they were the only one that carried it and that they only sell one per school of each design.  Well SURPRISE I walked in and there she stood - same dress.  Our eyes met and it was that look of oh nice.  We kinda laughed it off.  I wasn't to upset - I thought I looked better Kiss

Re: Fashion Emergency!

I've never had this happen to me... I try to keep my closet full of semi-unique clothing... I order it offline, or go into specialty shops... etc... my 'regular' clothes are usually just bum around clothes... so... meh... it wouldn't be an embarassing situation...

Usually it's all about the accessories... use a scarf as a belt... boots... funky jewelry... cropped jacket...

But if it were to happen, I'd probably go find a sharp knife and slice and dice my outfit into something my own...

Re: Fashion Emergency!

OMG! That would totally suck!!! I would go to the bathroom, try to rearrange the outfit, and go out and flaunt how much better the outfit looks on me! If her hair is down, put mine up and make the up-do look classy and in style. Eye-wink

Re: Fashion Emergency!

Wow!! This is too funny, before I read your post, I saw the two women in the polka dot dresses, and immediately remembered showing up to a company dinner with my husband, only  to notice the HR director's wife was wearing the same  red and black polka dot dress I was wearing.  I returned quickly to the car and got a sequinned black sweater and put it on so it looked like a skirt and sweater.  Later when she and I saw each other in the ladies room, we complimented each other on our good taste and had a good laugh.  She was very happy that I had put on the sweater, and I doubt anyone but the two of us every noticed we were wearing the same dress.

Re: Fashion Emergency!

I guess it would depend who looked better in the outfit. Whether or not I thought I looked better, I would just try my best to flaunt it and to strut my stuff as best as possible. I would feel too weird to go up to the girl and be cool about it. But that is a definite nightmare!
