I am: Not really paying attention

OK with Thanksgiving around the corner I figured we need a area for sharing our Thanksgiving Recipes. NOW with that said I don't want to get geek or hubby in any trouble so PLEASE DO NOT post any recipe that you got out of a cookbook or that is copy written. This has to be your personal recipe or family recipe.

Now you can recommend certain commercial things.

Example: I love Pillsbury Pumpkin Quick bread (I really do) - it's easy to make (water, oil and eggs) and it almost has a spice cake taste to it. It comes in a box and you can generally find it in the cake mix isle of your grocery store. If your grocery store is like mine they only carry it at thanksgiving - so do like I do and stock up (haha I have 8 boxes now). Laughing

Now if you need turkey cooking tips well there is a forum here for that: http://grownupgeek.com/idiot-proof-turkey so for turkey cooking tips post it there but for the sides and/or deserts here is the place to post them.

I'm not 100% that this is NOT in any cookbook because it came from my sisters' in-laws....

Cranberry Sweet Potato Bake

Use 1 1/4 casserole dish.

1/2 cup flour

1/2 cup brown packed sugar

1/2 cup cooked oats

1 tsp cinnamon

1/3 cup butter

2 17 oz cans of yams drained

2 cups fresh cranberries

1 1/2 cup mini marshmallow

Mix all dry together

Cut butter in to mix (Til crumbly)

mix yam and cranberries

mix 1/2 dry ingredients with yam and cranberries

arrange in casserole dish

take other half of dry ingredients and sprinkle over whole dish

Place in oven at 350 for 35 minutes. Within last 5 - 10 minutes of baking, add mini-marshmallows over the entire dish to cover as a "topping", Should come out golden brown.

Re: Thanksgiving Recipes (share yours)

Ok so here is my family's recipe - it almost taste like a desert it's that good:

Sweet Potato Casserole

3 cups mashed sweet potatoes (or like I do a large can of yams)

1 teaspoon of vanilla

3/4 cup of sugar

1/3 cup of melted butter (or margarine)

now mix that all together well and place in a casserole dish (like a 9 x 11)

Now for the topping:

1 cup of brown sugar (light)

1/2 cup of coconut

1 cup of chopped nuts (I use pecans)

1/3 cup of flour

1/3 cup of melted butter (or margarine)

Mix together well and add it as a layer on top prior to baking.

Bake 30 mins. at 350 degrees.

All I can say is YUMMMMMMMM!  Tongue out <-- that's my guy licking his lips it's that good!
