hi,

when i try to play a DVD in my hardrive with Windows Media Player i get an error telling me that my screen resolution is too high and that i should lower it. however i like my current settings, font, size as they are on my PC and don't want to change them. i also dont want to toggle back and forth between settings to watch movies. i am able to view DVD using the VLC player, but i prefer the functions in the WMP. i recall always being able to watchdvds on wmp in the past no problems. perhaps i tweaked something unknowingly?? these are the settings i use, below. any suggestions? thanks in advance.Laughing

graphics card (NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GT) that is set to default and updated.

screen resolution: 1024x768 pixels

color quality: highest (32 bit)

please post any additional info needed and i will provide.

Re: DVD playback in WMP error

That's a pretty standard resolution and a darn good graphics adapter.  There's something screwy that's causing that message.  Have you looked in all the Advanced and Special Options tabs in Media Player?  And you say this happens with ALL DVD's?  How about movies that are downloaded in a DiVX format?

I might be tempted to install a codec pack to see it that works but I don't know if it would do any good.  As a suggestion, I use "K-Lite Codec Pack 3.5.7 Standard".  I've not heard of anyone having troubles with it but if necessary, it will uninstall through Add/Remove Programs.
