I have been reading up on trackers/blockers, trying to learn this stuff as best I can. I did a search on SAFARI, but it was getting difficult to dredge through every post to not find something helpful, so I thought I should ask. How does using SAFARI help/hurt my ability to be tracked or to view or anything with MS? I had tried FIREFOX and it lagged big time compared to SAFARI so I dumped it. Is FIREFOX really that much better for what many of us here are trying to accomplish?
Does Anyone Know about Browsing MS In SAFARI?

ok, so just to be totally clear on everything...it IS ok to download Firefox on my new macbook? i have no clue about macbooks and i really don't want to mess it up! sorry for being clueless! haha

Its absolutely fine to download Firefox
I remember several years go, when I first started using firefox, I was amazed at the speed increase from IE. However, one of the things that makes Firefox so great is also it's downfall when it comes to speed. Addons bloat the program and slow it down. If you use many of them (like I do) it's even worse. When I want browsing speed I use Opera-which is lightning fast compared to my firefox-however, I always end up giving up after a few minutes because I'm frustrated with the lack of functionality all my addons give me in firefox. Opera does have a large widget community-but it still can't compare to what firefox has. If you want to use safari when browsing myspace and blocking trackers is your main concern, go to the appearance preference and uncheck " display images when page opens". Most trackers use image files to track, so not loading images will prevent being tracked. You can also use a proxy for another layer of protection. However, bear in mind you will not see comment images, friends pictures, and a lot of profile items on the pages you view. So it's your trade off if you want to be safe w/o using firefox.
That sounds WAAAAAAY too simple. So as long as I am can handle no images on the page, I am pretty safe from most trackers? Its not the images I am all that concerned about, so I'm all for it. Can anyone confirm this or is there any way for me to test this? THANK YOU JEWELS!!!
well if you have trackers on your own profile you can easily test it yourself. Turn off image loading, view your profile, and see if you get tracked. If you don't have trackers, just post a reply here on the forum and I'll email you my myspace page to view via the contact form (i don't like to post if publicly). If my trackers are not blocked, then you'll know. However, bear in mind the tracker that is being used by gug members and posted in the private forums will NOT be affected by blocking images. So if you think your targets might be gug users who have that code-then this tactic will not work to prevent being tracked by it.
No, I dont have a tracker. Your help is very appreciated. Plus this will be good for others I hope. And no, my target is not a GuG member. At least I am 99% sure
Your contact form is turned off, I can't email you until you enable it in your gug account settings.
oooops, sorry. i changed it. try me now. thanks.
ok-sent the url through ur contact form. Post here so I know when to check my logs-or u can shoot me an email on myspace.
i checked it once without logging in. then checked it after logging in.
Ok the tracker I mentioned from the private forums got you, as did my javascript tracker (which is still working for me) from profile tracker. However profile trackers IP tracker did not pick you up, neither did trackspace, nor createblog, nor mixmap. So unless your targets have the tracker I spoke of before, or are a long time member of profiletracker with a working older code---then you are good to go my friend. If you want more tests, smartmom is also very willing to track members for them. If you want screenshots email me through the contact form and I'll email them to you.
I also use safari, but from my research into this it does not offer what firefox does with the add on. Then again, I am new to this as well, and if you do happen to find a blocking thing for safari I would LOVE to hear about it. But I can't stand Firefox and I like safari. So for now, I use safari for everything else, then I open Firefox to browse myspace. Yay for Mac
