This bothers me.

1. A Few years ago go I started an MySpace account. I just tested it. I put strange name and a funny picture of me there with privacy settings on default. A few weeks ago I deleted that image and changed my name to real one and put a new picture of me there. Still privacy settings on default. I checked Google Image search that that funny picture isn´t there.

2. About week after that I started to wonder if Google Image search now finds my funny picture and puts my real name with that. It didn´t. The picture wasn´t there. So I changed my name again and put a new picture there. I also changed privacy settings as tight as they can be.

What do you think? Does Google Image search find deleted MySpace pictures and if it does could it put my real name with it? What should I do? Delete my whole account or keep it with privacy settings tight?

I'm sorry, I really don't understand your question.  You're saying that the image and your name DO NOT show up as search results in google, why the lockdown?

I just wonder if Google still can find that picture and puts my real name with it. And I´m asking how can I prevent that from happening. And like I said, first I removed the picture and few days later I changed my name. My logic says that it isn´t possible that Google can connect them. But does Google even find images which are deleted from MySpace?

Re: Deleted Myspace images

if you search google's cache, there's a chance the old images would show up, but that's about it.  Someone would have  to search the cache, and recognize your MySpace user ID # to put it together with your new name.  In other words, someone would have to be actively looking for your old page to find it, and would need more than average searching skills.  If you're concerned about it showing up in the future under Google's image search, I wouldn't.  If it's not there now, it likely won't be later.

Re: Deleted Myspace images

Hmmm... I started thinking and I`m not quite sure if you understood me correctly. Those names are all in the same account. I only changed my user name.

Today Google found that profile with my first (fake) name and it´s a link to this same account which now is with a new name. It also found my real name which was listed in my friends friends- list. When I looked all his friends through I only found my new name.

So there is nothing else with my real name, no link, no picture. Only that mentioning at friends friends-list. With the newiest name I didn´t find anything but it´s so common name that it is not so odd.

What I planned to do is to use all new very identifiable name with all privacy settings down as long as Google finds something related to it. Then I delete the whole account.

Or do you or somebody else have better propositions?

Re: Deleted Myspace images

I'm not sure if anyone here understands you exactly... or what you're trying to do... but best we can do for you is tell you what we know of Google, and maybe you can find your answer in that information... Anyone feel free to correct me or add to this... I just woke up so I'm a little stupid at the moment. I'd also like to add that this is more or less what I've learned on my own and from reading... this wasn't taken from a Google handbook or anything, so it's likely to be inexact.

First thing to know about Google, is that it doesn't update instantly... It could take days, weeks, or longer, depending on Google.

Until google updates it's info on your myspace, it'll probably show old information. The vast majority of excerpts you find on google for myspace are outdated, especially if you only recently changed something or change the info daily.

Even if the info you see on google is old, the link they provide will take you to the 'live' version of the page. So if you see google mention your old name, when you click on the link, it's obviously going to take you to the page as it is at the current moment, which would have your new info. If you delete the page, your info (old or new) may still show up on google for a while, but the link would take you to the deleted page.

Once it does update and show the new information, if Google provides a 'cached' link, it would show a stored file of an old version of the page.  That for all I know is unpredictable.. So who knows what particular old info it'll show... It could show your old name, old image, old 'about me', old friend list... or maybe not... it would just be a kind of 'snapshot' of the page on some random given day that google crawled your myspace... Even if you have your settings to private right now, if the cached version of the page wasn't private when google crawled it, it'll show it as it was that day (public).

Over time, google *will* update (who knows how long that will take) and all old information from the account won't be found on google... eventually even cached pages get an update.

As for images, if you do an image search with Google, even if it comes up with an old thumbnail, if the link to it is gone, the best you're going to get is that thumbnail... the link to that picture won't exist (or will have been assigned to something else in the world-wide-webiverse) and will probably get an error page if someone tries to open.  Again, google doesn't update automatically.. so it could be linked with the old name.. it could be linked with the new name.. it could be linked with just about any text it can find that was on the page... I find that google's image search is kinda bad at putting a picture and text together correctly... and I find that google's image search doesn't seem to update as well as the main web-search they have...

So I don't think we can give you an exact answer for the question you're asking even if we did understand it... Google's not perfect, or exact, or instant... Although better than most (some might say all) other search engines... So any changes to your profile, be it a name, picture, about me, etc, will take time to fully update on Google, and the old information *can* possibly be linked to your new page, but eventually all deleted and outmoded information will disappear from Google.

Re: Deleted Myspace images

So if I understood you correctly I should just delete my account and hope that Google doesn´t show my old page and newer name at the same page? And it won´t refresh it at all if it doesn´t find my page anywhere?

And about that image that I didn´t want to be found. It isn´t anywhere. I have searched it with all the biggest search engines and image engines. I think it is at Google cache and somewhere in MySpace servers but nowhere else. And I think that when I delete an image from MySpace it breaks the link between that picture and the profile where it was. And when that link is broken I can´t see any possibility why it should now appear at Google Image search fingings. But if I delete that profile is it possible that that link is again there?
