Every time I go on a forum I frequent, I always get a Microsoft Visual C++ Debug Library Message

Here is exactly what it says:

Debug Assertion Failed!

Program: C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe
File: c:\program files\microsoft visual studio 8\vc\include\xtree
Line: 293

Expression: map/set iterators incompatible

For information on how your program can cause an assertion failure, see the Visual C++ documentation on asserts.

(Press Retry to debug the application)

I have no idea what C++ is or anything so if anyone could help me, it'd be great. I don't have microsoft visual studio 8 or whatever, I don't think.

Thank you!

Re: IE Help - Debug Assertion Failed

have you tried checking in Tools|Internet Options|Advanced and UNchecking the "enable debugging" and "display script errors" boxes?
The other option might be to stop using internet exploder and use Firefox instead..

Re: IE Help - Debug Assertion Failed

I was about to ask you if you joined the Darkside and went to IE...  didn't know IE had that option... lol...

Figures... Microsoft and Microsoft....

Re: IE Help - Debug Assertion Failed

What do you use Microsoft Visual C++ for? (if this is what you said you don't have, check your program list, or go to Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs and check in there)

You could just uninstall it... That or there might be a setting that's set to automatically debug things... I'll check mine out to see if I find anything.

I've never gotten an error message that had already attempted to debug, just one that gives me the option if something shuts down all of a sudden...

Re: IE Help - Debug Assertion Failed

could be a poorly programmed ActiveX object, possibly malware of some sort. i would suggest running 'Adware' and 'SpyBot Search & destroy' (or equivalent), clean out your IE temp folder and remove any unneeded ActiveX objects.

GUG has a great thread on Spyware and Viruses Explained that you may want to read as well.
