I used to watch Days Of Our Lives so faithfully. Honestly, I kind of lost touch with it over the past year or so. But the great thing about this soap opera is that you can miss it for such a very long time and then watch it and get caught up very quickly. The story line that I liked the most least--was when Marlena got possessed. That was a little too "out there" for me. I will never forget that day she turned around in slow motion and revealed to the home viewers that she was possessed...yikes! I also used to watch As the World Turns.
What was your favorite/unliked story line of DOOL?
Or if you watch a different soap, which one do you watch and what do you like/dislike about it?

Okay personally. I LOVE Guiding Light, at least the way the storyline is going.
I've been crying for days b/c of the death of one of the good characters...
It reminds me of some things in my life...Ha! Thats horrible...I could never get into Days of Our Lives....I kinda drift in n out of soap operas...It just depends on the storylines. I watch As the World Turns whenever I have time. What else is sad, I watch the missed episodes in one sitting online at work or at night when I can't sleep. Feel free to call me a loser...I can admit it...Doesn't hurt! lol
I used to love this show. I even used to skip school to watch it.
ahh, now i can comment...
Thank you for all the comments! and thanks for the kudos from some of you
heres a few replies:
nubg2k4:
i took a peek at the show the other day. i think the person stefano has as a "house guest" is indeed john black. (i bet a new actor of course)
Loulu:
i heard that there was a dvd made about that story line with marlena's possesion.
ynos415:
that person with a wig could be gwen from as the world turns, or it could be the person who impersonated kristen on dool. (elvis' aka ej wells' mom)
Denise:
reading your comment was like walking through memory lane:)
goody2shoes:
yes, alice is still on there. she doesnt seem like she is in good health though. she does keep the spirit alive on the show and has the ability to see straight through the fake and bad people and she puts them in their place...i love it! Pretty cool for a lady her age.
snowchicka:
ahh, snowboarding...that used to be one of my dreams. that or skateboarding or bicycle tricks.
marketmaker:
your comment made me laugh so hard, it still makes me laugh. but i know what you mean really.
thanks again for all the comments!!
"we will return for the second half of days of our lives in just a moment..."
(you would have to watch the show to catch the humor in the above phrase.)
thanks again gugers:)
I have never really been a huge soaps kind of girl. I am more of a power boat racing extreme sports kind of girl but I have friends both men and women that watch it religiously. I know not to call during certain hours of the day cause they turn their ringer off.. hahaha
Leave them wondering~
Ha! I Watched DOOL with my mother all the time! I remember that episode. I also remember when Hope and Bo got married. Then they tried substituting him and Roman came back....lots of weird happenings but I haven't watched in forever. I can't beleive how long that program has ran....and Mrs. Brady is still on there? I know her husband died in rela life a while ago. Well have a great New Year. Real life or Soap
I never saw DOOL, different country ... but it sounds funny.
"she turned around in slow motion and revealed to the home viewers that she was possessed..."
Haha, would love to see that!
I have to say that the last time I watched that show was in fact the same episode you are referring to. Marlena becoming possessed was when the hour glass emptied for me.
OMG - I remember that!! It was freaky
Well, DOOL was on when I was pretty young.
Sad to say, I'm not into TV much. (I get enough of Blues Clues, Dora, Sponge Bob, etc. to fill my plate for a day!!)
But, I did LOVE ER when they had the original cast on! I don't know, something about it just agreed with me.
MASH was another "Oldie" but goodie for me.
Survivor is good.
But my favorite has got to be Winter X Games! Snowboarding of course, then everything else.

No soaps for me, unless ya count the Sopranos as something of a soap!
Would you believe it if I said I've never, ever, even tried to watch a soap opera? Day time, prime time, doesn't matter, I just have no interest. I might just be the only woman in America who can't name a single soap opera character, lol.
"How do you know I'm mad?" asked Alice.
"You must be", said the cat, "Or you wouldn't have come here"

I am with you on this one! I do remember my babysitter when I was a kid was hooked on it though. She would tape it every single day. I just had to add my two cents since I dig Pat!
I've never watched DOOL but I know who Marlena is and somehow I know she was possessed but I don't remember why I know that, lol.
I've been watching All My Children since I was 4 when the show first aired and have seen character's come and go. I know what you mean about being able to catch up quickly after not watching for a long time. I think I went about 5 years once and it took me about a week to figure out what was going on. Thank goodness for Erica and Dr. Martin! They are original characters and the same actors. Tad's been on a long time too, but he wasn't born yet when the soap started. Phoebe was fabulous, but sadly, she passed away. Every once in awhile they do a reunion episode and those are very cool.
My earliest recollection of watching a soap though was at my grandma's house. It was called Dark Shadows and it was about vampires or something. My grandma would send me outside to play while it was on so I wouldn't get nightmares!
Good luck Pat, I hope you win!

two words: Barnabas Collins!
i too would watch in back east during the summers at my grandparents place. and i would get freaked out! great series. gee - that was in the 60's!!

i've never been a fan of day time soaps. but i'll tell you what.......the night time/prime time versions rock! can you say "Dirty Sexy Money?!" That is my fav right along side of "Brothers & Sisters."
Dirty Sexy Money is really is out there with a few of the characters daily stories. then again, i can also imagine that when you are filthy wealthy.....it is every man for themselves twenty-four/seven baby!
Brothers & Sisters is pure sibling rivalry and drama. again, real life every day family issues. nonetheless....i'm hooked!
Never watch soaps, as a matter of fact I don't have any television in my home, well we tv's to watch dvd's and vcr tapes in but no cable or satellite and we live so far out there that we don't even pick up network tv. But I like pat07 and I really hope he wins!
a few years ago i used to check out days.. id get up in the morning and see chloe (nadia bjorlin). heh
OK!! This was the only soap that I watched. And the story lines were sooo far fetched!! I think my favorite was the Kristen's fake preg! *giggle*
Ohhh man DOOL was my first addiction at the tender age of 11. My favorite storylines are when Kimberly had multiple personalities, then Vivan buried Karly alive & would talk to her in the coffin through a walky talky, then Marlena was possessed lol, anything that Stefano was up to, OHHHH & who could forget when Lucas turned out to be the real father of Sammy's baby. I have not watched in years, cant even remember when I stopped, but I no longer have the urge to watch. I tried once, but I was like how in the hell did I use to watch this lol
*
Oh wow I totally forgot about Kristens fake pregnancy!! yes its all comin back to me lol Ohh, there was one more, when Lexy found out Celeste & Stefano were her parents, ewww lol
LOL - yours was the next post after my Supernatural one and how cosmic because Jensen Ackles used to play Eric Brady on Days! Such a cutie. That's my favorite era of the show.
I love DOOL! But in recent years the writing seems to have gone downhill. I'm really upset that they killed John Black off- Drake. He's devoted so many years to the soap. But now I'm hearing talks of him coming back as a new character. Soaps are notorious for that. I haven't been able to watch much work gets in the way..
To be honest Ive never really watched soap operas at all. My sister is 14 years older than I am so when I was a kid I was forced to watch them because she had control over the remote. However I am an avid wrestling fan which is pretty much a soap opera for men. There is always drama drama and more drama On Monday night RAW.

I used to watch that show. It's true you could miss a whole year and still be able to pick up what was going on. What I hated was the soap that came after, Passions. That creepy little doll Timmy that could come to life was just too much for me!
I was always an abc soap fan as a teenager, but haven't watched those shows in years. It's funny though, during daytime channel flicking while home on break, I still see some of the same characters from 30 years ago! Incredible. Do soap people get paid crap? Is that why they hang in there so long past their due dates? LOL My mom is still an avid DOOL fan and she's in her 60's.
Well Pat, I've never watched that show- I think. But during summertime when I was staying at my parents house, I would each lunch and my grandma would alwas be watching some soap opera. The one that was always on had some girl playing two parts- her regular charcter and then some girl that looked exactly like the other but had a wig and fake buck teeth- weird.
I find it interesting that only in soaps can someone die, come back as someone else, then die again and return as the orignal person. Fascinating lives they lead.
I used to watch All My Children religiously until they killed off one of my favorite characters "Maria", Edmonds (Demitris brother) wife. Not only did they kill her off but they had her afterwards appearing as a ghost which was way too corny for me. I catch it on while browsing sometimes and I cant believe the characters still there. I just learned from this thread that Pheobe died, =(. She was old but indeed one of my favorites. Anyone know if Erica ever won an emmy? lol.
Yes, Susan Lucci (Erica), did finally win the Emmy about 6 or 7 years ago. It was a great moment!
