Just need a verification that I'm not out of my mind....

S-Video cables do not transfer sound right?

My BF seems to think it does...as long as it has the red and white connected to it at the tv...

I think I need a Red/White phono to headphone jack to get the sound to the tv...am I right? or is he?

So for me to be right I'd need a red/white to headphone and a s-vid cable....

For him to be right we need a combo cable...because sound comes off the s-video part of it...no other plug in required...

Thanks in advance Smiling

Re: Connecting my Laptop to the TV.

I think I figured out why he thought that way. He's so used to Co-axial, which does transfer sound, that he didn't know that S-Video works a lot differently. So he's not...un geek?..he's just not as informed as he could be...

We can tell who the geek is in your house!

YOU are correct.. S-Video is just that - VIDEO (the "S" does not = sound)..
So you would need the SVideo cable plus your RCA-Phono (Red/White) or whatever to get the sound into the TV.
