Confronting Stalkers

Confronting Stalkers

I am a bit perplexed as to why this girl keeps viewing my profile and then change her default to something similar to mine(same pose or face positioning). I'm freaked out as to why she is doing this(We have a mutual friend on myspace). My question is; should I confront her? Or just ignore her? I'm starting to think she is right clicking and saving my default pictures so lastly I would like to know is there a way to put right click protection on my default picture?

Thanks in advance for assistance.

Re: Confronting Stalkers

As someone who has stalked, (Im fascinated by an old associates current life but we weren't on good terms in the past) and has been stalked (had to have my husband address that idiot), I applaud Geek's way of addressing a stalker!!!  I would definitely say that you should get in contact with you stalker and ask her "what's up?" or you could do Geek's way...i'm sure you'll get results either way....now for the picture situation...have you tried going to properties and making the picture a read only? maybe that might prevent someone from saving pictures...I know it can happen because I like to go to wireimage and unless you pay a fee you can't download their pictures...

Re: Confronting Stalkers

I think that I wrote about this a while back, but the way that I confront people who take a general interest in my profile is to call them out in my headline.  For instance right now my headline is "It's nice to see that again I'm the object of someone's attention! Thanks ___!!"  I've also had my headline to proudly display this person's entire name, first and last, along w/ their email address.  Needless to say, they opted to remove their name from their account and changed their email address.  It's not my fault that they continue to come to my profile daily and then some.  If that doesn't work, then obviously this person needs something to occupy their time...hope you get rid of them!!!

Re: Confronting Stalkers

Done that one too. I've been a little more subtle since I don't pay for trackers so I don't get the email addy.

I've put "profile now private due to Atlanta IP 12.345.67 and their compulsion to view this profile 25 times this week. Get a life."

That's only happened once, when calling them out and listing each one of their visits in my blog - entry set to public - didn't work.

Blog subject to get their attention: "Atlanta Bell South Customer?" (like a public service sort of thing so they'll click on it)

Then - "Here's a list of how many times you've viewed my profile recently!"

-List dates, times, IP info-

"Since you're not on my friends list, why not say hello? You're clearly fascinated for some reason and if you're looking for something, just ask!"

My subscribers help with this too - leaving comments like "OMG I think I know who that is! LOL" (by yes, someone  who knew the person) or "Yeah, that would creep me out too".

Getting friends on your side can peer pressure them into giving up, no one likes looking uncool.

Re: Confronting Stalkers

Reading this thread came in mighty handy for me. I developed a stalker over the past several days--used your methods--accounts now deleted! Thanks ladies - worked like a charm!

Re: Confronting Stalkers

It works every time for me! I swear by it...and I know that at the moment my little friend isn't able to see it my headline on my actual profile, however, I'm guessing that it's safe to assume that she has me saved in her favorites. As we all know when you save someone's profile in your favorites you're able to see that persons headline....and even if she does a search for me, she'll still be able to see the headline. I always like to add a special little note for her as well...she's such a peach and I let her know it!

Glad that it worked for you Jewels!Tongue out

Re: Confronting Stalkers

I thought your temp. name was pretty amusing...

Re: Confronting Stalkers

Oh I so agree I laughed jewels when I saw your new temp name.  Yep plan to use that one next time I have a stalker problem - so good!

Re: Confronting Stalkers

OMG!!! What a fantastic method of disposing of a stalker!!!! 2 thumbs up Geek!

Re: Confronting Stalkers

You might want to embed a watermark onto your photos. Don't know if you have Photoshop or some other program to do that, but there's no way she can get around that if you got your name or an identification digitally chiseled into the picture.

Re: Confronting Stalkers

I think I will send her message. Just asking her why does she keep viewing my profile?

Re: Confronting Stalkers

I had a stalker problem (but with a real creep who promotes beating women - jerk).  I emailed him along with all of my trackings of him (to scare him plus as proof) and then I blocked him via myspace's blocks and the block used by profiletracker.us (which really really blocks him - hehe).  Good luck!

Re: Confronting Stalkers

Thanks smartmom!

She is a real psycho she steals my pictures and writes to my ex-boyfriends new female friends with my picture pretending to be me to ask questions and insult them.

It doesnt work because  he knows she is pyscho and well aware of her antics.

Re: Confronting Stalkers

You should message her and talk to her! if she's stalking you shes probably dying to talk to you.

Re: Confronting Stalkers

Thanks for all the advice! I just wish she'd go away. *rolls eyes*

Re: Confronting Stalkers

I had one. We had the same tracker, so he'd show up several hits a week. I didn't understand it - he's much younger than me and really kinda "Hollywood" and I am so not in that circle. He had a private profile - but I then came across him on a friend's friends list. I told my friend about him at a party.

My friend said he worked at his agency - one of his subordinates. Another guy at this party was another one of his bosses. So I had my photo taken with these fellas, his former bosses - and I used the pic as a default for a while (caption read "Hi Joe!")

He went away. I never had to confront him. Their industry is pretty tight, so even though he doesn't work for them anymore, he probably doesn't want it getting around he's a stalker.

I wouldn't recommend it if you know this person or if the people you have in common wouldn't take your side - but there's no chance I'll ever meet this dude. It was kinda fun knowing I freaked the kid out.

So you could use ways of calling her out without actually confronting her - and make it funny to everyone involved!

Re: Confronting Stalkers

I think there is a way to disable right clicking, I haven't had to do it so I'm sure someone else can tell you how to do it, if there is a way.

But, even if you disable right clicking, you wouldn't be able to prevent someone from doing a print screen and pasting it into a paint document.

Re: Confronting Stalkers

Pat has a great point there. Perhaps you should use a paint program to your benefit and and spray your name on your photo before uploading. I have a friend who does this with almost all of her pics--keeps people from being able to steal them. Or even a nice little note like "stop stalking me" would be kinda funny!
