Hello everyone,I.ve not been online for over a week, and now when I log on, the computer shuts down for no apparent reason, after being on for about 10 minutes. Would anyone know the cause of this? The computer has been used during the week, but it did not start acting up until last night. Please help! This is very frustrating! Thanks juliek
I keep shutting down
Intermittent shutdowns are a sign of a power supply problem. But before you troubleshoot the power supply, try the "simple" things first...there may be alot of dirt inside that needs to be cleaned out, or check for viruses, or if you are going into hybernate or sleep mode. I'm thinking that dirt is the source of your problem because it's shutting down in 10 minutes and the pc will shut down to prevent itself from overheating. If you do open up your computer tower to clean it, take precaution to not touch any circuit boards unless you are wearing a ESD bracelet. Check on the internet for exact steps to take if you are unsure about opening up your computer.
Need a little more info it could be 1 of 100 things, processor could be overheating then shutting down, could have a worm, (the dreaded blaster worm use to do this) it could be faulty power saving mode app/drivers if you have a laptop especially.
