hey everyone adam here ... i got a computer from a buddy of my dad ... an e machine kinda like my home computer but not as good ... okay heres the problem ... when i try to turn it on nothing happens i opened it up (hooray for no warranty ) ... (it was already expired) and at first i thought it was a bad power supply ... so i bought a new one and slapped it in ... i plugged it in and no sound or nothing but the cpu fan made like a quarter of a turn and died in its tracks so i know its not tyhe switch or the power supply ... do you think its the motherboard ... processor ... i tried unplugging all the things to see if there was a bad part ...(happened at home and it was a damn floppy lol)
if anyone is able to help thank you very much

As soon as I saw the word "E-Machine" my head jumped straight to burnt Motherboard. Their cases aren't grounded for shat lol, so any good bump or power surge will short them out like nothing. I've seen it more times than I care to admit... Processor is a possibility, but normally you would be getting a beep code telling you thats the case... so I'd guess not. Look for any bulging or coroded capacitors (if you don't know what one is, they look like mini AA batteries sticking up from the motherboard). It's a tell tale sign of a burnt Motherboard. Even if the capacitors look fine, my money is still on Motherboard seeing that you have tried 2 different PSU's, plus it has a big E on the side
If thats the case, you may as well toss it, sorry to say. Salvage the HD and the opticals, but everything else is probably meant for the scrap heap.
I would think that if it was the processor, it would start up (lights, fans, all that jazz) but just wouldn't do anything.
Had a problem like that once on an old Socket A machine I was working on. forgot that the Heat Sink had to be put on in a particular direction, so I put it in backward. There's an indentation on one side of the 'sink, so putting it in backward made it tilt slightly, and it didn't get fully flush with the top of the CPU. Think would overtemp and shut down almost right away...took me a little while to get back around to checking my work, and therefore, the heat sink. Anyway...the symptoms of that situation looked much like what you have, but I would at least start to see the BIOS info before it shut down.
Bought a E-Machine from Tiger Direct Once, never again.
They are recycled problems and while the effort to "save the planet" is fine the thing broke within a year for "unknown reasons" (though it reaked of burning electronics before finally dying) ...luckly for me I bought a Extended Warrenty thingy and they issued me a check for the $399 I paid for the thing.
I'd honestly trust a HP made Computer more...lol

nice! i've never had to cash in on an extended warranty item - - however, reading your post hopefully inspires others to purchase that option.
Is this chicken, what I have, or is this fish? I know it's tuna, but it… it says "Chicken of the Sea".
If it doesn't POST and you know the power supply is good, then it probably is the processor or motherboard. If you have a working processor that will fit, you can try swapping it in to see if you can determine which needs replaced.
You may want to price some motherboard/processor combo units. If I remember correctly (and it's been a while since I've checked) TigerDirect normally has some good deals on the combo units and it might be easier (if not cheaper) just to replace both.
Before you mess with the board or processor, you might want to recheck the cables, memory, and PCI cards make sure everything is tight. I'm not sure if a loose connection somewhere could cause this problem, but its good to start with the cheap fixes first. (You may have already done this; from your post it sounds like you know what you're doing.)
have a nice day and "happy computing"
its just an e machine so im not too worried (i got 5 more computers in my house )(every day seems like a lan party lol) and i talked to a fellow geek from school and he said that he has a motherboard that i could steal lol so it will be up and running in a couple days
