Cant open website something is blocking it

Not sure if this is the correct forum but here goes.

I can not get to http://www.xat.com/

I get this message
Unable to connect

Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at www.xat.com
* The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few
moments.

* If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network
connection.

* If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure
that Firefox is permitted to access the Web

I get a similar message when I use IE. I have been to that site before. its a site that lets you create a chat room for your myspace or other sites.

I cant get into my own chat that I created it says I can not connect.

I have been having this same problem with different web sites than the one you mentioned. I had thought it was my computer since it is about 5 years old...and had been thinking of getting a new one, but maybe that isn't it after all. It seems to happen after I shut my computer off and restart it. I will be able to get my homepage from comcast, but not sign into my account and get my e mail. I can access myspace but not facebook...it seems to be just certain web sites and I get the same message you mentioned. I thought maybe it was just Firefox, but I get the same message on IE also. The only way I have found to correct it is to keep restarting my computer, which is why I thought maybe some connections weren't working? Lsst time I had to restart 4 times before I could access the sites. I have Norton internet security, and how do I clear cookies and will it effect going to web sites?

Have you tried running it in IE just for kicks? You might be able to narrow it down to whether it's Firefox or maybe some other setting (like from an Anti-Virus or firewall)...

I have tried all that even unblocked blocked web pages in my macafee. The site worked fine. Then suddenly it just wouldnt work. It works fine for all my other members. I have had this problem since November. I am thinking something is blocking the page from loading but cant find out what it is.

Im thinking maybe spybot or maybe a java bug?
