I have recently formatted my pc and now have trouble installing outlook express. I keep getting the following error message - A time-out occurred while communicating with the server. Account: 'mail.tesco.net', Server: 'mail.tesco.net', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x800CCC19 My mail server is tesco, and I also have AVG and it looks like there's lots of mail trying to come through, but just won't make it.

Re: Can't access outlook

First try disabling your AVG email protection.

Next disable your firewall (just to see) and then if that does the trick - allow for the outlook exception.

Are you sure you're not using IMAP?

Hi Ashton, thanks for your help. It seems that it may well be AVG that is causing the problem. When I disable the email scanner and then access outlook, it is ok. Thing is though, I seem to have to do this everytime that I try to get into outlook - strange. If I don't do this, then as it is searching for new messages a big list of avg scanning mail pops up in the right hand corner, eventually it all times out and quite often the whole thing will freeze.
I've never come across this before and have no idea what to do to rectify it permanantely.

Also:

Put the URL in the browser bar to se if your have connectivity over port 80 (http)

http://mail.tesco.net

I connected just fine, but port 110 was restricted. I would try configuring your client with IMAP.
