i just got a track from a what looks like a cell phone today on my tracker statcounter. first one i've seen. it may also be someone on their pc using mobile or wml browser though. anyone know the answer to that? i've posted the track below.
here's what the track looked like:
city, state, United States mobile-1XX-2XX-0XX-XXX.mycingular.net
MSIE 7.0/Windows Vista
as a side note, i have open wave wap 2.0 on my cell and don't get tracked on my tracker.

This wasnt a cell phone you tracked. Cingular offers broadband service in various locations. Or the person may have been using their phone as a modem to connect their laptop to the internet via their phone. But they didnt actually use their phone to view your page.

Its hit or miss I find with the mobiles. I have found that yes I have tracked some and some I do not see at all. I will also say that I have also with some even tracked them to the point it gave me there WHOLE mobile token string. Having ones mobile token string gives me full access (and I mean FULL) to there myspace. Best part was that one that hit me and gave me there full string was a stalker - oh yeah had a blast with that one 
Now I did check on my blackberry to see if I could track myself. I found if I used the mobile version I could not. If I used the pc version on my phone then it did track me. This is how it tracked me (as the wrong person - LOL). I left the IP in there the way it tracked because it was a odd one - didn't show really any info. For the record I'm on a Nextel

Yes trackers are against myspace TOS. Do they search for trackers well if your profile has been turned in then yes. I have had my profile turned in before too. Myspace did delete some of my trackers but they did not delete my account (they could have). It is a risk that you take having trackers.

That is kinda a side affect from hanging around GUG too long - you learn. Trust me stick around and you will be amazed at what you learn. Hey I'm just a average mom that has learned alot - I have to I have teenagers

Look at their "View page source" and try and find it. If there profile is private or marked 18+ then yes myspacescraps (HITS) will not see it. If there page is public and you find a tracker that we do not block post it here and let us know so that we can add it to the tracker blocker list

If the page is private then yes myspacescrap would not see it. Since I don't know this tracker its hard to say but every other tracker I have seen yes would record every time you hit that page. If you hit it four times it would track you four times. If this is a friend they shouldn't matter how many times you hit it.

yes, sometimes. i think it depends on what browser the cell phone is using. if the cell phone can run the regular version of myspace not the mobile version, then yes, an IP tracker can pick up the cell phone's IP address. but not the cell phone number. at that point data is being transferred via broadband or wi-fi, the phone number itself isn't calling into a network like on a dial-up modem. (i could be wrong about the specifics of that. but basically, no, the IP tracker should not be picking up the cell phone number.)

Well, the reverse DNS will say which cell provider the person is using. If you have a couple stalkers, one who has ATT and who who has Verizon, you could narrow it down that way. My cell phone tracks with Lat/Long have always been fairly accurately actually, city-wise, not street level.

What is reverse DNS and what does it do?
i found some links for you that define/explain Reverse DNS. i don't understand this kind of thing well enough to try to explain it, maybe someone else here can, because this is definitely not my area of expertise

No, you're right it's not always true. But if the Reverse DNS is given and authenticated, then it will give carrier info, that's my experience anyway. I just didn't want people to think they were necessarily going to be anonymous because they were using their cell phones
