Simply for the awww factor

smartmom's picture

OK well a little known fact about me is that I love critters (ok so not snakes and spiders or ducks <-- long story with ducks). I have also fostered more animals then I can count. Generally when I foster its kittens, bunnys or owls. When I say foster I would take in the real little ones that for some reason or another had no mom. Some of my babies were really really young and required tube feeding.

OK well one of my main places I get my foster kittens is around my work. I work in a business (industrial) park and well lots and lots of stray cats (yes I try and trap them and steralize <fix> them). Trust me if there is a kitten found there I generally end up with a box in my office. So here is my babies that arrived today to my office around 10am. Its two little brothers.

See I'm one that has at my office (and home) animal formula (KRM formula) along with critter bottles and feeding tubes. So these little guys ate well and crashed for a long nap (oh and they purred up a storm - I love little motors). They were just too darn cute. I'm guessing their about a week old as they both fit in my hand but their cords had already healed up. One of the girls in my office who was planning on getting a kitten took them so they will be together - I know awwwww. For the day I got to play mom to them. I just had to share these babies and how cute they are.

Oh she named them "Puss and Boots" since one had little white soxs on its feet (little white boots). You have to love it!

OK so everyone say awwwwwwwwwww too cute

& some lady came up to an addoption both wile i was getting some pamphlets and she had a baby cat maybe 1 day or even hours born...  the cat needed an owner since its mother abandoned it & it was way too small to survive on its own... It broke my heart & i felt soo bad since i coulnt help... (I have 4 dogs of my own, work full time, & go to school full time..)  I left the park in hopes someone took that cat home... I wish I would of known you rescue cats =(

Re: Simply for the awww factor

Awwww, SO cute!

I have a very soft spot on my heart for stray animals!

Re: Simply for the awww factor

They are adorable and I love the name Puss and Boots for them.  Our Sophie has white boots and socks.  I just loves hers.

If I was standing on a fish, I'd slip and fall......

Re: Simply for the awww factor

Yeah my Clyde has white boots (pic below) we had his sister "Bonnie" (get it Bonnie and Clyde) until she passed away last year from a stroke.  I spent mega money trying to save that cat - I love my kittys!  After Bonnie passed and my son was devastated (she was his cat) we went out and rescued another cat from the shelter.  Not as a replacement but as saving another in her memory.

Re: Simply for the awww factor

Definitely AWWW factor!  I love kitties!

Re: Simply for the awww factor

how cute are they *sneeze...allergies to cats!* mini me just adores cats, kitties, and baby animals in general but also suffers a great deal from pet dander. you are a good woman smartmom for rescuing the bro's and getting them placed in a home together.

*shall we bet on how long it takes for this to make into another fake profile?!*

Tuna ><((((*> the other white meat!

Re: Simply for the awww factor

"awww... too cute." the biggest problem w/ kittens is that they grow up to be cats.

Re: Simply for the awww factor

Sooo cute!!!  I want one, but I think Gwen would eat a kitten, she's not impressed with other cats, just herself.

"How do you know I'm mad?" asked Alice.
"You must be", said the cat, "Or you wouldn't have come here"

Re: Simply for the awww factor

Yeah I have 3 cats now (plus a dog) and trust me they are thrilled when I bring home new babies - actually my dog tries to play mom but the cats give me that look as to say "pfffffff". If they stayed little I would keep them all! Two of my three cats are my foster babies that I did keep. One is a 19 lb Maine Coone (looks just like these babies but HUGE):

Since he was one of my office cats I'm sure some how they are related - LOL

Re: Simply for the awww factor

When I tried taking my neighbor's cat a few months back, when he had to move, it did not go well.  I don't think Boyfriend or I slept for the whole week she was here, Gwen went from sweet, affectionate, and sleepy to surly, mean and bloody in a heartbeat.  All they did was fight, every time Steph tried to come out from hiding under my sofa, Gwen attacked.  So, no cute widdle kitties for me until Gwen's gone.

Re: Simply for the awww factor

yeah it can be hard with introducing cats.  I know when I take in fosters I keep them far away (in my bathroom or kids room) for two reasons:

1) the fighting can be really ugly

2) for health reasons until the babies are checked out and cleared by a vet as healthy

I remember the Gwen and Steph story and the mean guy who let steph go (did you ever find her after that?)

I will say that when its time to give up the babies (when ever I get fosters) if they go to a home they are first fixed (I have a vet I do work with) or they go to a NON kill shelter if I can't place them.  I loveeeeeeeeeee kittens!

Re: Simply for the awww factor

Keeping them separate wasn't really an option here, we have a studio.  Stephanie lives in our driveway now, under my truck that doesn't start.  She won't let anyone catch her, but at least she survived the winter, poor thing.  I choke up a little every time I see her.
