How do we block the new Myspace Tracker?
Submitted by geek1976 on March 23, 2008 - 7:03pm.
Any ideas (besides making the page private)?
Here's a link for those who havent seen it yet... http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=352575956
I just added it and am testing it out. So far no visits yet.

okay so i installed the adblock for f.f and i added the "counter" to my myspace. installed adblock to Firefox Re: How do we block the new Myspace Tracker?

I haven't tried this yet but want to. I really want to know if a certain person is looking at my profile and I lost her ID (ugh!) but if my profile is set to private, will it still track her? Do we put it in our headline? I really need her ID again...this could be the solution!

It's not one that they give you a code and you add but one that you click a button and they add for you. I don't think that you can put it in your headline and if your on private then it won't track her. I suggest then putting one of the other trackers in your headline such as mixmap.

OK, I added this application 12 hours ago, but it still says I have no visitors. I've already received comments from friends, so I know that isn't true. I'm thinking it doesn't track people who comment you through the "comment back" feature, only if they actually visit your page. And since Smartmom says it won't track visitors if my page is private, I'm thinking I might make my profile public for a few days. I do have mixmap in my headline, which I adore, but I can't tell if she's visiting my page because I don't know her location. What I need is this new app to show me a link to her myspace profile so I can get her ID again. *crossing fingers*

I did check the "comment back" feature via my fake and no it didn't show on the new app. You can keep the new app and still do a headline tracker and to help match up the ID look in the private forums for help (since your a subscribing member). It's hard to post to much with this thread in the open. You can email me (hit my contact tab) and I can help you along some.

Ok, i tried another app and it's also hosted on api.msappspace.com so that's most likely a domain owned by myspace and is probably used for all apps. Which means that blocking the domain blocks all apps. So i'm taking that filter from the list. I've tried to find distinguishing characteristics of the counter and it seems to use the domain funsk.com which is a facebook apps site. I don't even know if blocking it will take out the tracker but blocking the funsk.com site will block anything on there, so people with facebook who want to use that site might not want to block it. Basically, to block it and not block other apps use the other method: go to the page of the app, click "report this app" and then "block profile counter". Re: How do we block the new Myspace Tracker?

hi there fizzleb , yes this works as such - a profile counter and it does tell you who has visited your myspace. but it does not tell you when or how many times and they do not track returns to your profile. also you cant delete anyone who visits you. but if you have other trackers maybe say profile tracker or mixmap maybe it will help you id your visitors.

Another way to block it: on the page of the app click "Report this App" and then "Block Profile Counter". Also, this wasn't created by Myspace but by some guy Douglas. I doubt it will be around for very long. Re: How do we block the new Myspace Tracker?

fyi - i figured out how to add an individual application to your blocked list. if you go to the application profile, like one of the ones listed in this thread, and you click on Report this App, it will send you to a page with three options. one of the options is to block the app from accessing your data. of course, if you block it, you can not use the application either. also, i confirmed that checking "don't share any data" does NOT stop these apps from tracking you. that merely stops your pic from showing up in your friends' apps, etc. so don't rely on that to stop apps from seeing/tracking you. So let me get this straight...I am using the updated list for adblock from Bottlebob. If I go to the applications site and check "don't share any data" I could still be tracked? I tried reading through all the threads and that is what I understood. Sorry if I sound dumb, but is there any way to block this? I'm really not interested in using it on my profile to track others, but I'm concerned of someone using this application to track me. Re: How do we block the new Myspace Tracker?

Adblock does NOT block this application. If you click "dont share data" you WILL still be tracked. The only way you can block the application is to go to the application and click on Report This Application. You can then block it that way. However, that means you cannot use the application, at all. Re: How do we block the new Myspace Tracker?

i have already put it at 18 plus so they have to sign in to see my profile. but im not sure if this counter picks up repeat visits-or it just picks them up the one time. do they move to top of list as with a ip tracker? maybe if someone isnt too busy maybe they could test this with a fake. i dont have one to use. x

Sleuth is confused....Is this a tracker??? Myspace's own tracker???? How does it work?? Just like a regular IP tracker??
I probably sound extremely dumb....If so, how embarrassing...but oh well. Just had to ask. :P

i did add the one you mention above pat but it doesnt work (i believe) unless both people have the application added. i did remove it though without testing it very much. thanks to everyone for all your help with this thread. your all fantastic here on gug. i do wish i could help more but who knows i may be useful one day? x

I saw that... but to do that I would have to remove all the applications I am using (including my own profile counter).
On another note... I dont know how well this tracker really works. I went to my profile logged in as as 3 different profiles 3 times and it didnt count those visits. It just says "Looks like no one has visited your profile recently."
EDIT: What I am looking for is a code to block it if anyone has one Re: How do we block the new Myspace Tracker?

Ok to block the new tracker add this to your adblock list (I'll send it to bob to add it to the list). http://api.msappspace.com* don't forget the star at the end. I tested this out on my fake and it works. Now if you using this app I will say that it makes it disappear so that you don't see it either.

No - I just threw it on my fake to see how it works and to figure out how to block it. You could put it on your profile - mark it as 18+ (so that they are forced to be logged in to view your profile) and still block it yourself. Then when you want to see who has hit your profile then unblock it and simply hover over the pics to get the ID. It could be another way to help boost your other trackers by verifying who has peeked at your profile. Simply write down the ID's re enable the adblock then view who has looked at your profile (with the ID's that you wrote down).
myspace own tracker

i have just added a new application on myspace called "profile counter" -thinking it just counted your visits -WRONG - it does count your visits AND it also has a default profile box for each visitor(not thier profile pic). i just clicked on the first box(visitor) to see if it showed me anything else and it took me to my daughters page! the second one took me straight to my stalkers page- someone who is causing me many issues at the mo. i only had it 5 minutes and it tracked her to my page. i thought i would share that with you all. i thought i was so great. hi i went to bed -this is why i didnt reply. but i see you have already found the link and brilliant smartmom found a way to block it. is it a tracker? its a shame it doesnt pick every single visit up!! i dont go snooping so i wont need the adblock. the only other thing i should add is when you click the default pic it takes you to the visitors myspace page - this will mean you are tracked- it looks like you're snooping even though your just curious. maybe if you know the id off your target you should check it before you visit them back. if you hover over the default pic of visitor it shows the myspace id of that person. hope iv explained my self correctly-just woke up you see!

Mark your profile 18+ so that they have to be logged in to see your profile and then you can track them all. It is a tracker but not a cookie stealer that I can see. See my post above to see how to use it and still block it if you want.

hi smartmom i was wondering if you have any ideas on the profile counter on how we would remove these visitors. iv had a look around and dont see anyway of removing visitors -(apart from removing the whole application and re adding it) maybe if there is a way to remove the visitors (like unsubrcribing them or something like that) it could then it could show each time they visit.
