the history channel is running a damage control on this... telling the viewers "if and when a black hole is made it will be the size of a proton and not able to suck up the world" ... all I keep thinking of is...
Fry: Where am I, anyway?
Nichols: You're travelling in a specially-equipped terrestrial transport module.
Gygax: A school bus!
[The yellow bus has "Grand Unified School District" written on the side.]
Fry: So what do you nerds want?
Nichols: It's about that rip in space-time that you saw.
Hawking: I call it a "Hawking Hole".
Fry: No fair! I saw it first!
futurama!
"damage control" is a bit late in the game for them. i'm surprised nothing aired earlier. i can envision a "war of the worlds" type of panic by those who get wind of it at the last possible moment.

2:30 am est ....so tonight
I found an article that says 5pm aest... which is 2am cst... which means 3am est....
If anything bad happens, we won't feel a thing......
But seriously, nothing bad will happen. Michio Kaku said it best "the LHC has as much chance of ending the world as it does of producing fire-breathing dragons"

Hahah well yes.The 2 scenerios it could produce are a) complete disaster or b) the seperation of any other realities from our own.
So they are as likley as each other, and both,in a way possible i guess.
I like what someone said about being scared of the truth. That definatley makes sense.I watch an unhealthy amount of UFO documentaries and the only reason that nobody can outrightly say there is such thing as "aliens" is because of fear of other people knowing such a deeply guarded secret. There are thousands f highly respected people that have worked for the government and that are willing to risk their lives just to try and let people know. And alot have been "erased" because of it.
Its ridiculous.
All goverments go on about " world peace" and "unity",the one thing that would unite the world is our humanity. If we could all concentrate on learning from higher beings or if necessary to fight against them,we wouldnt be bothred with who owned what friggin land or who believed differently to who.
I dont think anyone with an ounze of intelligence can really believe that theres nothing else out there.
I believe its humans form the future who have conquered time travel. After a long conversation about the LHC(?) i do now think it's totally positive and it could possibly make us one step closer to knowing ourselves
Hmmm so we can now create temperatures that are 100,000 times hotter than the temperature of the sun....but we still can't invent a toilet that doesn't clog.
I think this whole technology thing is going all in the wrong direction!
There is not only nothing to be scared of - there is much to be excited about. There is NO chance the LHC will end the earth or cause anything catastrophic. There is, however, a good chance that the most interesting questions of science, life, and the universe will be answered or given more insight. I've been waiting for LHC to go online for years and am soooooo excited about this. If it works, this will be the most amazing thing ever. If it doesn't, it will simply be a disappointment, not a disaster for the earth. There are always people who are afraid of the truth who try to stop others from uncovering it. That is what the ridiculous and disproven disaster scenarios are about. Those people should be ashamed for trying to stop science and knowledge from advancing.
Relax. I mean I don't know when the earth will end, and it will, but hopefully more people know for sure where they will go if and when it does happen.

Hey I though the end of the world was happening in 2012?
Seriously though, why would they even try this if there was even a 1 percent chance of it happening???
