is anyone using BitTorrent? I find it to be the fastest around to download larger files. oh, and not everything on it is illegal, a lot of people us it to distribute their own content for free: http://www.legaltorrents.com/index.htm AND some music labels and movie producers are looking into using for their distribution. I suggest you check it out.
BitTorrent filesharing.
Much like erinroxorz said, I love BitLord and Ive used it for nearly 2 years. It works great for everything i need (well, want!) I get most of my torrents from Demonoid.com, and occasionally from Torrentbox.com. I even have specific users i generally leech torrents from cuz theyre superior quality and to date, ive never once gotten a bad file from those two users. I definately stick to sites that require memberships!
And bottlebob, i use PeerGuardian2 from methlabs ( peerguardian.sf.net) which is an open source program to help avoid those nasty letters from IP's
:)
(edit: which i just now realized you already said- blonde moment, oops!)
Well once you have a client downloaded you go to a torrent site like torrentspy.com
when you find a file to download you click on the download link
you will then see a pop up that asks what you do with the file
select open with and browse to the exe of the client you are using utorrent.exe etc then click OK
your client should open up and make you confirm you want to download the file select OK
now you are downloading you may have to play with your settings to get decent speeds

I've heard from some people who got a letter from their isp asking to delete a movie they had downloaded with a torrent. It's pretty easy for others to see your ip when you're downloading and that includes riaa or whoever plays watchdog for movies. It could be a good idea to use peerguardian when using torrents.
the torrent system does not compete with the Gnutenulla network (Limewire and Bearshare are clients on the Gnutenulla network). They both have there plus'es and minus'es. Gnutenulla is better for unpopular content ans small files; torrents are better for large, popular files. Note. Because of ISP's blocking ports, it can be more difficult to set up a torrent client that actually works well.
utorrent.com - uTorrent seems to be the fastest for me if you go to Preferences>BitTorrent>Under "Protocol Encryption" change it to "Outgoing: Enable">Advanced>click "net.max_halfopen">change value to 80 and click 'Set' then 'OK' to exit the Preferences. It should help speed up the downloads.
I like BitLord, which is a BitTorrent downloading program. I like ThePirateBay.org and MiniNova.org. If you're talking about legality, I like to consider downloading American Idol and The Office as being identical to Tivo'ing.. Haha.. Mostly I'll use torrents for full cds and movies, though (i'm a pirate)
