HI
I currrently have limewire and its hopeless at downloading and finding movies and series.. anyone have any good recs? thank you
Best website or software to dowload movies and tv series?
Limewire is a good way to catch viruses, adware, mallware, trojans, and spybots...plus it steals your bandwith on the internet and jacks your computer memory even when it isn't uploading programs to other users.
Last Computer I fixed thatwas having slow down and internet connection problems had Livewire on it without the new owner knowing about it and it was also heavily infected with 4 viruses and 40ish malware, spyware, adware and snoopers plus there was 40 people trying to download files in what was basically a locked up portfolio.
Took 3 hours to hack through the portfolio defenses and manually kill enough of the running "baddies" and another 2 hours to deinfect the computer and get her back up to prestine speed in running applications and logging into the Internet...lol.
I saw Order of the Phoenix in the Theater and am waiting for it on DVD (Average turn around from Theater to DVD is 6 months now, svrtsgr cost is $15), and with older movies E-Bay, Half.com, and Walmart have good bargins and the likes of Blockbuster often sell their movies at a discounted rate after so many rentals or when it isn't popular any more.
The alternative, which I learned via experience, is use a P2P to get a lot of fakes and maybe catch a virus or other malicious program that could steal your identity if not crash your computer that you download with your "free movie" (Usually ended up downloading porn with enbeded coding trying to install a phisher/malware instead of the Movie I really wanted)
Although I'm a seasoned Bittorrent user (yay Oscar screeners!*) and have (knock wood) never had a virus or Trojan or any bad experience with any P2P (never used Limewire), I have to say this post makes a great point.
You stated your case well. I don't recommend any P2P program to anyone who doesn't know exactly what they're getting into and what to look for. You can't just randomly DL anything that you want, after a while you get to know established uploading teams and so you know what you're getting is the real deal.
ANY popular movie is going to have fakes all over the internet. In most cases, the only genuine article is going to be a low quality cam anyways.
* I do wonder, when November rolls around, who exactly it is that uploads these screeners. Usually watermarked in some subtle way - an academy member IS doing it, maybe several. Just a curious thing...
Here's where I get my tv torrents from:

For movies I've found demonoid is one of the best sources. The good thing about this site is that the members post comments so you know if the movie quality is good or not.
If anybody wants an invite to demonoid, let me know. I'll be happy to send you one.
If you have a video iPod - ipodnova.tv is a godsend (with an AV kit of course). I don't burn to disc hardly at all anymore. And yes, I DO buy the DVDs of the TV series and movies I DL from there once they're available. My karma's fine. I just prefer not to wait months to watch Weeds and don't have a TiVo to record stuff with time conflicts.
Everything on that site is encoded to work directly with iPods, you need nothing on your end, just add the files on iTunes. Mininova and meganova often have files needing some sort of proprietary decoder to burn/view them. Ipodnova is THE best for video iPod owners.
Ok here is an even better idea Why not go buy them? If you like the shows/movies eniugh to go through the hassel of downloading them why not go spend the 20$ and buy the season/movie. Its just like with music if ppl start downloading all of it, it will dissapear. I know this sounds mean but as a Dj I know what its like to have ppl download music and what not and not see money for your work. Its like you working at your job all week and on payday you only get 10$.
I hear ya. I d/l tracks from Beatport for mixing, but most of the stuff I d/l from Soulseek are mixes that were recorded live and never released to buy. And most of the movies I d/l are ones that the websites themselves create the torrent for. I buy good movies I want to see on DVD.

Throw the donkey a waffle. C'mon you know you want to... No? You hate donkeys, don't you?
This is mostly for streaming & watching but you can download a lot of them as flash files too with the right equipment. Alert: some of these may not be legal.
