Hey,

Our routerstopped working and out landlord gave us another router, but its not wireless and only hasone port for connecting a cable- which my housemate always is using. I just brought another router from home which was working fine but when I try to get it working the lights go on green except the one showing its connected to hte interned which jsut is red all the time.

Its not working even if I use a cable, any suggestions what could be wrong?

Thanks

Re: Belkin wireless router help

Okay, G, this is what I would do.

DNS (Domain Name Server) are addresses that resolve names, like google.com, into IP address numbers. You typically have a problem with DNS when your computer shows that you're connected but you can't bring up a webpage.

Which I don't think is your problem. So this is what I would do in order.

  1. Power off everything. Modem, router, computer. Wait a minute and then begin to power cycle everything back up, in the above order.
  2. Insert router installation cd if that doesn't work.

Don't have the installation CD? Thats okay, we can walk you through it. Please respond if you don't or problem still exists after using installation cd.

Here's a few links of where this has been discussed before.
