Now that Michael is gone, I think it will be very interesting to see how the rest of the competition turns out. I'm wondering what the theme is this week, has anyone heard? From what I observed so far, I think this is how the the elimination will look like...

This week:

7. Kristy- I never would have imagined she would make it this far! She's picking the right songs and seems to be growing on people, but her country singing can only take her so far.

6. Syesha- She has a great voice, but she's been in the bottom 3 several times

5. Carly-She just doesn't get how to connect....bad songs, bad wardrobe

4. Jason-His looks can only take him so far...too one dimensional

3. Brooke-She's a great singer and very talented with the instruments. I think she'll be top 3

David VS. David will be the top two!!

What do you guys think?

Last night was a bit of a disappointment for me, although there were a few good ones.

1. David Cook-I never would have guessed he could sing the phantom, but this was excellent. And when he looks at the camera...sizzle!

2. David Archeletta

3. Syesha Mercado -I think she really did good lastnight, way better than she did last week.

4. Carly Smithson -I think she did really good too lastnight.

5. Jason Castro- It was okay for me...kinda monotone though

6. Brooke White - I hope Brooke gets the boot. At this point in the competition she should not restart. I understand she lost her lyrics but this is LIVE TV. I'm sorry, but I think she made herself look really stupid.

I think David C and Syesha stood out head and shoulders above the rest. I liked Carly for the first time in weeks.

What do you think?

Hotmama, I totally agree with your take on everyone. Even leaving Archie blank. I just don't know what to think about him. He's good... but he's not Idol. Here's what it is for me. I'll be very honest here about what I think and anyone feel free smack me down. HE'S TOO YOUNG. That's it for me. And I am not homophobic. Sticking out tongue

David Cook. Wow. I was floored. Did I wipe a tear? No.. I had some dust in my eye.
Syesha was stunning. What a looker and what a beautiful voice.
Jason. We've seen his one trick. It's good but his trick is extremely narrow. I'm really tired of it, but my wife wasn't as of last week. Maybe when she sees this performance.
Carley. Still gets on my nerves. I don't like it when someone just belts out a vocal just for the sake of belting it out because they can.
Brooke. Professional they say? Whatever. She ain't gonna make it.

I'm banking on her to get the BOOT. She's had way too many chances and she keeps screwing them up.

If she was professional, she would never start then stop and start again! Come on gimme a break!!! GEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES.

I heard Andrew Lloyd Webber was going to be tonight's celeb. WTF? Are they scraping the bottom of the barrel or what? Songs from musicals??? HIS musicals??

Ohh... apparently David Cook has some controversy about some published music that apparently has been available as a download purchase on Amazon. Some want him DQ'd. The music was quickly pulled from Amazon earlier this week.

yah he was the singer for a band in KC or something who put a couple of their songs online. no record label or anything, just indy.

then theres carly, multimillion dollar record deal from a major record label and a full album on the market...DQ her first! (i hate her!)

its a loop hole in in the AI rules that should be addressed. contestants have to fit an age bracket and not be under a current recording contract. so for example, under those rules if britney spears was in between contracts, or some other professional artist, she could qualify as a contestant. which wouldn't be fair.

ps. i dont think theres anything wrong with carly, i think shes one of the better singers. shes got got one of the best attitudes too, which gos a long way.

I can't believe that Kristy got kicked off! I think she will do great regardless because country music fans are always open to new talent and she is wonderful. I personally can't wait for Carly to be gone. She did good this time but there is just something about her that I don't like. BTW, can we way Jason Castro is a hottie. Yummy.

I wasn't expecting Kristy in the bottom 3 much less getting the boot.

My theory is that up until Tuesday, Kristy's steady fan-voters where doing just enough to keep her above water. With Michael gone, that left a whole lot of habitual voters sitting there and no longer having a favorite to vote for. I think Carley got more of Michael's old voters than Kristy.

Brooke was once again snatched from the abyss. She looks to be preparing, though because she didn't seem as upset last night.

I wanted Brooke out of the competition last night!! She's a wreck! With her, not being able to control her feelings like that on national TV is quite humiliating. Her singing is just okay, Kristi Lee should of been given another chance. I think Kristi Lee did really well this week too....

Brooke should have been gone, in my opinion.

im getting so irritated. michael should still be there, kristy lee should still be there, and brooke and syesha should be gone. Fact is, david cook is the only good one there who can actually be mainstream, so basically now its just waiting to watch him win, and that pretty much bores me. Sad

After lastnight's perfomances, I think I need to change my guess on the bottom three, I completely agree with Stevie:

Brooke- She cannot control her emotions! I mean, I was not impressed by her lastnight! Absolutely NOT. Then when she heard Simon's critique, her facial expression when down the hole and went from super HAPPY to "holy sh!t, i'm screwed!" I just don't think that performance will last her another week.

Syesha- I didn't think she did that bad....but according to the judges, she is NOT improving week to week. I just think that she thinks she's the sh!t, when she's NOT really all that, yanno?

Carly- OH man, poor Carly. She looked GREAT lastnight...but her singing was way off. WAY OFF.

Kristy Lee is surprising me each week. She's starting to really step up her game! She's really growing on me and I think from lastnight's performance, she'll make it on the big couch this time.

HANDS down...the GUYS did great this week. I do have to give it up to them. We're definitely gonna have a guy IDOL this year!

I think the votes tonight will put at the bottom: Carley, Brooke, and Syesha. I think Carley is gone this time.

Unless the planet turns on its side, David Cook is this season's idol. Man.. he finally performed a version that was "his" and I was impressed. Did you guys see David's brother in the audience? He was straight back center. He's terminally ill and flew out to see David.

David Archuleta has a superb voice but he can't do what Cook does. And poor Brooke. She's a basket case and is getting shaken up easily. She needs a blue Valium and a Budweiser before she does this again.

I like Kristy. I have no idea why cuz I hate country. Carrie Underwood made it on country though, so its possible.

I dislike brooke. she is WAY too innocent (she doesnt watch movies over a PG rating, never seen an R rated film, hates people who cuss and dont love "the lord" shes a mormon) so i just cant see her being an american idol. I dont want an idol who only sings churchy songs.

Stink head needs to go. he sounds exactly the same every week and bores me to death.

syesha is also boring. she wants to be a diva, but shes not.

Carly isnt american. She already HAD a record label and failed. 'nuff said- go home already!

So yah, that leaves david vs david. which sucks, because although I love archuleta's voice he has the same issues Brooke does. A devout mormon just cant be an american idol. They couldnt deal with the lifestyle, nor produce 'main stream' music.

David Cook will be the last man standing. If hes not, i will have lost all faith Sad

I know. Ive mentioned all their prior careers in the other Idol thread we have. I just didnt feel like repeating it. She is the only one who had a MAJOR recordlabel in the past though.
