Anyone Have any Reviews on Helio?
Submitted by animestrinity on March 28, 2008 - 5:15pm.
Okay, I've posted this question on another site, but I'm wanting more feedback. I'm looking for a new cellphone network, and for what I want, Helio seems like they're going to be the best. I don't talk that often, I just mainly want it for web browsing, texting, gps, etc etc... If I go with them I'm going to get the Ocean... I think... Now I'm going to check out the actual phones this weekend to play with them, see if I like them... ask and harass the poor Helio worker questions and such... but I'm 90% sure they're going to give me PRO-helio information. I don't plan to switch right away, so I've got some time... what I want to know is have any of you heard or experienced good or bad things with either Helio and/or the Ocean? Also on a sub-topic... I'm looking into trying to get out of my current contract, hopefully without shelling out the $400... I've seen a few ways, but I'm not really interested in swapping, or moving, joining the army, or dying... so I'm also curious to hear of any success stories on getting out of a wireless contract and how I might be able to do so as well? You're right... I'm almost willing to die to get out of the contract... or I think I can put it in someone elses name, and have them die.... and then I can get out of it. .·:·.·:·.·:·.· Better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to speak and remove all doubt.

Over at consumerist.com they have articles all the time about getting out of cell phone contracts. Look for changes in your plan, ie At&T just raised the cost of text messages. I could call customer service and tell them I do not agree with the changes they have made to my contract and no longer agree to the terms. You have to demand that they release you from the contract with no penalties since they changed the terms. Finish every call to your cell company by saying "I do not agree to extend my contract". If they say you extended your contract demand proof. "I'm just like you only shorter."

Well I have no clue on Helio but here are some ideas for getting out of your current plan (cheaper). Here is a couple of options: Find out how long you have left on your current contract. If it's only a few months or even if its a year find out what there rock bottom plan is. Some will let you drop it down to like $10. a month (where you would have to pay for every second you talk) and ride out the plan that way. If you have a year left it's cheaper to pay $120 then $400. With that said no you won't be able to transfer you number. So you change your voice mail to say your new number and not to leave a message as it will not be returned via this phone or even lisened too. Isn't the boyfriend on the same plan with you? If so and he plans to stay with them then see if you can roll your plan over to his phone extending his plan. That may cost you favors with the boyfriend Ask them if you put your phone on "stand by" if it also puts your plan on stand by. Some plans will let you put it on stand by for like $5. a month and you can eat your time up that way. There is always the - put on a cute sexy outfit and head into the store. Flirt like crazy and work some magic to get out of that plan.

The plan is in my name, and he's wants out too... I told him if we had to pay the termination fee, I'd cover it. To drop my plan tacks on an extra year to my contract... I think I'm stuck around 3 years left right now, to make a change to my plan would gimme another 4 years. I think I'm looking at the 'get a faulty phone' and make lots of complaints... but we'll see... like I said, I have time .·:·.·:·.·:·.· Better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to speak and remove all doubt.
