I have a girlfriend with a private myspace profile. She is to smart to not accept new "fake" friends and claims to be innocent on her myspace. Recently I've found public profiles with sexual comments made from her that is bad news. She also has guy pics in her friends file which I have no clue whom they are. Probably innocent but you gotta find out if the woman you are falling for isn't everything you thought she was.
Anybody ever tried a portable keylogger? I've been looking at the keyghost brands which look very indiscreet. Am I gonna hack into her Myspace? Hell no. Just wanna check her integrity. I have access to her apartment and computer which means I could come and go with the unit without her even having the foggiest idea!!

Any thoughts or comments----negative although they probably will be!!!

Re: anybody tried portable keyloggers?

software keyloggers will most likely show up in antivirus/antispyware programs. so you run the risk of them doing a random sweep or and automated one finding it. and as long as there to stupid to know what that is then go for it.

Just to let you know portable keyloggers (remote keyloggers) are in MOST cases illegal.  It is legal to put one on your own computer or a computer that you own (not one that you bought and gave as a gift).  Putting one on someone else's computer to spy is illegal and not anything we would recommend to do here (or talk about).  It is not worth the possible jail time if caught.  This is a old thread but I saw that you commented on it and I would hate to see anyone get into trouble.

I havn't tried portable keyloggers, but i have used Typeagent. It is $29 and is worth knowing what is going on. Just remember to delete all of the short-cuts. I have uninstalled and reinstalled several times and it always installs short-cuts. Also, remember to run in stealth. I like this program because even if nothing is typed it will show what websites are visisted and how long via pop-ups or e-mails.

Re: anybody tried portable keyloggers?

There's a new portable keylogger out now, I think it's shadow keylogger. It's free and you can put it on a memory stick and run it in seconds. Just thought that might help.

Re: anybody tried portable keyloggers?

Just know that if you put a keylogger on a PC that is not owned by you it is very illegal.

That is correct and there should be absolutely no discussion about them either. Good point Smartmom.

Re: anybody tried portable keyloggers?

A hardware based keylogger is normally plugged in-between the keyboard and the computer itself, most models use internal flash memory to store keystrokes. One of the downsides of using a hardware keylogger is that it’s a visible device.

Software based keyloggers are installed like any other application; they typically don’t install any type of shortcuts (unless you want them to) and are accessible via a keyboard combination. The majority of them can be configured to send any activity via e-mail; normally you’ll need to configure SMTP to utilize that particular feature. Some software will detect and alert users to there presence.

You run a risk of potentially ruining your relationship regardless of what method you use. Personally, I would be upfront with her about your suspicions and simply ask. I realize you’re not looking for a lecture, but these methods are unethical, and in the end you could just end up hurting yourself.

Re: anybody tried portable keyloggers?

I attempted to download the keylogger TypeAgent onto my boyfriends computer and did it successfully but it was just the trial version. It kept giving a pop up every now and again saying "purchase type agent blah blah blah and this pop up will go away." so i failed in attempting to find out if he is cheating on me or talking to ex girlfriends and what not because he wont sign into his myspace when im around and if i come around he signs out really quick like he is hiding something. its killing me to know what he is saying to other people when im not around! i also found in his email (that he accidentally left up) that he was sending his pics to other girls...i just want to catch him red handed but i dont know which keylogger to use without having to purchase it.

Uh,huh.

If his prfile is set up anything like mine then he's probably being bombarded by "fembot" adverts and using the links to visit the related web-cam and porn sites....lol

If you are not his friend and his file is set to private you can use one of the codes to take a peek as his friends list then use the info to jump to thier site to see if he is posting.

And whether you use a hardware kelogger or a sofware one it WILL have more capabilities if you pay for a working one........less you know sombody that has a working version that you can borrow.

Honestly, isn't a few dollars worth your "sanity"?...lol, though the pop ups popping up as a "stool pidgeon" if you don't pay for it is totally not cool ;\

Because Myspace is a "social site" there are going to be all kingd of people asking to be your friend and some people think the number of friends in the profile is more important then neccisarily knowing the person or what having them linked to your page means.

And, unless your girlfriend is a dog, sooner or later guys are going to hit on her and flirt with her.

And unless your girlfriend is timid she may innocently flirt back.

I am assuming you already asked her why she won't add you on as a friend?

Have you asked her if she is flirting with guys on Myspace?

Getting all jealous cause your girlfriend cause she likes to socialize and flirt is a real turn on to her you know.....NOT!!!

And I also assume you don't check out other girls, flirt with girls other then your girlfriend, or enter a occasional girly cam site....lol

Any relationship needs a degree of trust, and if she already told you she is just having fun after you asked her about it and you still want to do recon with a keylogger then you are lacking the trust neccesary to make any commitment to a long term relationship.

As far as keyloggers go a software beased one would be a little less obvious then one that needs to be installed via a port that might be discovered.

good kuck

Re: anybody tried portable keyloggers?

I used one on my husband before we got married and you had to put in a weird key combination in order to have it even come up on the screen. It was hidden and recording all of his typed words. So even if you are smart, you have no way of finding out it was on there.

I would see stuff like when he was on IM, websites with his user name and passwords and things like that. If you type in keylogger on google, there are so many options, it is crazy. The one I had I paid a $25 one time fee and I found out a couple of minor things, but nothing real substantial. Of course we have upgraded since then to laptops, and I don't have it on there because I trust him now. Good luck.

Re: anybody tried portable keyloggers?

Why are u thinking of a hardware key logger. With software ones all you have to do is install it once and it will email you the logs. Which is a lot easier than having to go back and forth to retrieve the hardware one. And if she's as smart as you say-don't you thing she's going to notice something like that?
