Any Ruggers Out There??

Any Ruggers Out There??

Anybody out there play rugby or is a fan of rugby?  My 20 year old daughter was very athletic growing up - she played soccer, basketball and ran track all through her school years.  Her real love was competitive swimming though.  She was pretty good and was going to swim in college but decided it would take too much time and interfere with her schoolwork.  So she goes away to school and gets recruited by the rugby team and absolutely loves the game!!  Rugby wasn't played in high school where we live and she was never exposed to it.  It's her new love.  I, on the other hand, am not too crazy about it.  She goes to a Division 1 school and I've been to a few games and its the roughest sport I've ever seen.  Can someone explain the love of this game to me??

i was on my soccer and track teams throughout middle and high school...i went to a division 1 college as well and decided to try rugby my junior year since it was a club sport. broke my ankle in the first game...week of practice before the game was fun though!

I've seen it a couple times on TV, its completely brutal. Wow. I think its called the "scrum", where they all crash together to get possession of the ball? Nasty stuff.

Re: Any Ruggers Out There??

Thanks, that was a great article. When she gets home tonight I'll be sure and show it to her. Other than rugby, she's such a girly girl lol. But she really loves it and I've heard about the after the game socials..... thats the only time she got injured. She got her cheekbone broken by a piece of a flying chair. When she gets home I'm gonna have her post up the picture of her broken face lol. Oh and by the way, when she comes in she always asks me "What are the geeks talking about today"?   check out this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tfq2CypIa3c
