I am: not the sharpest tool in the shed

I just wanted to say "Hey ya'all!" and introduce myself. Smiling

I'm Kuromi and like my profile says, I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed. :\ But that's why I'm here! To learn from you smart people! Laughing out loud Like I have a livejournal (I'll link to it once I feel a little more comfortable-but then ya'all are probably smart enough to do some computer-fu and find it anyway, huh? Shocked), and I wanted to learn how to make it look nifty. I also jumped into the premium membership, because I figured I might as well learn REALLY neat-o stuff while I'm here, too. Sticking out tongue

But, yeah, I'm pretty computer stupid, (and kinda shy Shocked) so please be gentle with me. =^-^=

I'm actually from Joisey, but I spent a lot of time in Virginia when I was an impressionable child, and I'm afraid that the "ya'all's" stuck. ;)

Welcome to GUG.  Well as you can see from all the greetings we are unlike any other community online.  We're kinda more like a family here on gug.  So jump right on in and remember no question is ever too dumb to ask and we will alway help out in any way.   You'll be surprise at the amount of knowledge that you will learn here so stick around, read and ask.  If ever one anwser is a little to over the top in explanation feel free to do one of those "umm what?" type of post and you will find that well will try and better explain.  Again welcome to gug.  I see that you were pointed to my one thread on finding your way around on gug.  We also have a  F. A. Q. that has alot of great info.

hey Kuromi, youll like GUG alot, i came here once over something stupid, and they helped me out alot, and they still do, youll find answers to almost any question in these forums and like the rest of us, youll learn alot, and remember,

Oh! And I've ALREADY learned something awesome! I downloaded Firefox, and it is so cool-I love it! Laughing out loud

One question though-already showing my green-do I need to uninstall Internet Explorer now? Or if I don't *need* to, should I?

There are still a small handful of websites that don't render properly in Firefox.  Boo-hiss.  So, hang onto IE, just in case you find one.  For me, it's my local bus company.  The schedules simply won't load right in Firefox.  Another thing, sometimes profile layouts look different in each browser.  Whenever I redo my MySpace profile, I do it in Firefox, then I check it in both browsers, and then usually have to go back and add code so that things sit right in IE.

I would say keep IE.  There are a couple websites my wife goes to that don't work right with Firefox. It's only a couple sites but they happen to be pretty important for her. Maybe with Firefox 3 it will less of a problem. I'll have to ask her. but I would say just to be safe let it hang around. Just don't use it unless you absolutely have to. 

Now that you have Firefox you should explore the add ons. They add to the awesomess of Firefox.

I would say Ad Block Plus and Old Bar are my two current favorites.

No you dont have to. I still have it, it doesnt make a difference if you keep it or not. I keep it because its the only way i can log in to my office remotely.

 Welcome Kuromi- I was just like you when I joined - kinda shy and not so computer smart but I am amazed at what I've learned in just 5 weeks.  Everyone is really nice and helpful and will try to answer all your questions.  Don't be afraid to ask even if you think theyre dumb because I asked some really stupid ones when I first started (heck I still am)  The above link really helped me.  Youre gonna love it here and you will learn some really neat-o stuffWink
