See I'm one who would rather fly then do a long car trip. Generally we take one big trip a year that requires flying. I also for business take a couple of trips a year. Alot of time with frequent flyer miles I can bump my seat to first class witch is really nice.
Longest flights I have done were around 14 hours and well I'm not a huge fan of those. Red eyes well I hate them because I cant sleep on a plane so my hours end up really screwy.
Worse flight I took was from my town (s. FL) to Dallas/ FL Worth. It was the first leg of my trip and was it ever a rough flight My second flight ended up having to go the next day due to weather. We hit turbulence so bad that at one point the oxygen masks fell down. Scared the crap out of most on the plane but they told us no fear and to just leave them alone (hanging). Once we landed everyone clapped their hands.
I think flying is a total pain in the @$$. The wife and I (I think this goes waaay back to before we were married) had to fly from NY to FL and back in the middle of a vacation... long story. So first we get delayed overnight trying to leave NY. They put us up in a hotel, upgrade us to first class, etc. Our connecting flight is also delayed.
We finally get to O-Town, do what we have to do, and then fly back to finish our vacation. More delays. So we've missed our connecting flight again. So they send us to a different airport, and have to pay a taxi to take us upstate to reunite w/ her parents. And the driver decides the Jersey Turnpike is the best way to go. So long story short- a total pain in the @$$.
I dunno if I ever had to fly anywhere since then. I'd rather drive.
Thats pretty intense. I've always had pretty smooth air travel, except for the time we hit some thunderstorms heading for Louisiana... The turbulence was pretty rough, but once we broke the storm, the flight passed directly through a rainbow on the way down. It was so magnificent to be able to look out both sides of the plane and see the different colors.
wow! cool story. did you see any gremlins like in Twilight Zone? the original not the movie, with shatner? lol!
i passed through Denver airport and it was hectic, there was a storm. the plane lands just past these mts that created heavy crosswinds. the wings tipped up and down so much you could see the ground out of both sides of the planes windows.
after my lay over, taking off was sucky too. the winds had died down, but the plane traffic jam was heavy. we waited on the runway behind 15 or 20 other planes.
